Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [Sunday 13th May 2012]

Barton's going nuts on twitter again. He's giving Shearer endless ****.

Cheers for heads up, always amusing to read them. I know I'm in the minority but I think they guy is alright , at least he puts himself about and tevez is hardly a saint.

Before that incident he had put a good shift in. Loved it how bibatelli backed down!

loving Barton calling Shearer, what has Barton ever won, Brother of convicted murder, nasty.

And on twitter couldn't sort it at his time at Newcastle when he was there and Shearer was retired, he need to get in the real world £40+ a week and he acts like he is injustice

That was just an example of how much better Clichy has been at City v his time at Arsenal, I just tried to put it in simple terms for you as I know how you need things spelt out and all ;)

I tried to put it in simple terms for you, he hasn't been better. He's had at least one terrible game for City this year, same way he was terrible for Arsenal every now and then, that is what ALL players have happen to them, that is how football works.

In the three other games of the four league games in the past two years Nani hasn't "raped" Clichy whatsoever. Cherry picking one game and deciding that is how the player is EVERY game is utterly ridiculous.

Clichy still makes the odd mistake at City, but he has Kompany and Lescott, a settled defence and a quality keeper backing him up, with De Jong, and Barry(boring and useless as he is, better than Arsenal in defensive midfield/cover) all covering and helping.

When he made a mistake at Arsenal, there is more likely to be a bad outcome.

City has been one of the best LB's in the league for years, ignored because Arsenal's defence as a whole is rather useless. He's not been better, he's been in a better team with better players around him that help his same quality football work more effectively.

Clichy at Arsenal = raped by Nani every time he played against him
Clichy at City = raped Nani both times he played against him

Clichy's game both defensively and in attack has improved boundless amounts since he left Arsenal

EDIT: Obviously though this could be a one off and he could go back to being **** next season ;)

Clichy has been ok this season but at arsenal he was rubbish. cost us vital games with his silly decision making.

@DM. I wont be surprised if you are gutted that arsenal got third place. You are so anti arsenal its getting freaking stupid now. Are you a spurs fan in disquise?

He's there, contributes nothing and gets paid a lot, that is always bad for a team, even if he doesn't actually play. He still got appearances anyway when you were in need of something, and had he not been there, that might have been some 18year old striker on 5k a week who cost you 1mil who started the season on the bench and went on to score 15 for you.

Dead weight is dead weight, terrible decision to keep him around.

£1mil, 18 year old striker that scores 15 a season ? Might as well just sack all of our front line if there's players like that around. Oh wait...

Look, Davies is getting on now but he's been a legend for us down the years and deserves every penny he gets out of us, imo. If half our players had the same passion and workrate as him, we probably wouldn't be where we are now.

less newcastle fans on here too compared to a few weeks ago but i expected that

Despite a disappointing final couple of games, we've had a cracking season.

Champions League football would have been amazing but it was always a bit of a long shot. Finishing 5th is amazing for a club that was playing Championship football two seasons ago and couldn't finish top-half last season.

I think we've done incredibly well and I don't think you'll find many Newcastle fans sulking that we missed out on 4th. Even if we had beaten Everton we would have stayed 5th as you and Arsenal both won.

Alex McLeish has either been sacked, or is expected to be sacked today after Villa's terrible season. I wonder if the owner will give a new manager some funds to try and sort them out, as he has seemed to pocket most of the money earned from the sale of Young, Downing, Barry etc.
