99/100 if the keeper plays the ball he gets away with it. A large portion of the time he gets the free kick too. If he doesn't play the ball yes its a penalty but as long as he gets on the ball he's fine.
For me he was too stand offish and they scored because of it.
Thats because 99/100 times its NOT A BACKPASS and keepers going in with hands while players go in with their feet, so you have keepers diving to the floor and getting a kicking then getting a freekick, here for De Gea to go in hard and claim it, it would have been with his feet and studs up, meaning both, harder to get the ball, and if he misses, he'll likely stud the player making it a penalty and red card. If he did that and it wasn't a backpass it would have been weak as hell, but when you can't use your hands, he had very few options. The fault lies entirely with the idiots who put him in that position with some woeful football.
Can't belive we almost lost to that Liverpool side, only 4 good players in their team and we basicaly handed them chance after chance to score. Sagna yet again completey cocking up to gift a goal (how many times has that happened?). What does Jenkinson have to do to get a game? Their other goal was very lucky deflected off Santos' nuts right into Hendersons path.
We need a left back, right back and a defensive midfielder today or we are going to miss out on 4th.
Sagna has been doing this since the end of his first season, he is a truly abysmal defender. Jenkinson, yet more talk of a surprise loan move. I've said that under Wenger there seems to be some kinda uber control freak, "agree with me or you're out" thing going on. If Jenkinson goes on loan, with Gibbs injured, Santos just utter turd, Sagna utter turd... it would seem Jenkinson is one of those guys Wenger just won't deal with unless everyone else is injured(Chamakh/Arshavin/etc).
As yesterday, I'll point out again that we were
10th before playing what were probably the 4 worst form teams in the league and winning all four games, since then its 1 win in 5, our record against the top half has been woeful so far, and we've got a top half heavy run to the end of the season. WE jumped up the table due to having a very soft 4 games in a row, we're more likely to slip down the table than go up it.
Still at 3 wins against top half, 10 man Spurs, 2 games with new manager Liverpool, and now turd West Brom.
Mertesacker was SO bad for the second goal, the reactions and speed of a turnip, Henderson, just crap, went past him like he wasn't there. Mert has been terrible for loads of our goals, painfully slow reactions, horrendous at set piece defending, he's entirely useless, when its Kos/Verm its 95% of the time a fullback screwing us for the goals we concede, when its Mert in there, he's usually as at fault as the fullbacks. If you're going to be as slow as Mertesacker you need to have the best reading of the game of anyone else, and he doesn't, he's slow, and slower to react, a terrible combination.
We need 2 fullbacks, at least(2 left, 1 right), a CB as Mert is useless, Miquel hasn't shown much of anything in terms of being good enough in the future, Djourou/Squillaci....lol.
DM's the least important, but I wouldn't say no, Arteta/Wilshire in there then most of the goals come from fullback mistakes, Diaby/Ramsey in there instead, both make a hell of a lot of defensive mistakes. I would say maybe a back up DM, but then I think Coquelin is good enough he seems to be another player Wenger is really unwilling to give a proper chance to.
