Grid 2

Bit late to this thread but in case I missed it, is anyone else seeing red glitch lines (at any point of the game from menus to race) on nVidia cards? GTX 680 w/ 320.18 driver.

Would be good to know if just me. No other game does it.

Loved the original GRID, but judging by the gameplay vids I'm looking at right now, I think I'll give this a miss. Seems like they've made it a little too arcadey for my liking and the lack of cockpit view is a joke.

For me Shift 2 is where it's at, perfect balance of arcade/sim.

Why is there no way to skip the Codemasters Troy McClure-a-like pep talks and that seriously slow Fan crap, the way it slowly phases in, slowly updates the figures and then slowly phases out again.. It takes nearly as long as the last ****ing race drifting session I just did.

Just tried this, it's pants.

What on earth have codemasters done!?! Worst car physics in a driving game, auto reset to track when you marginally venture off the track and the most annoying unskippable cutscene things. Shift 2 'shifts' all over this.

I would probably glaze over this even in a sale but wouldn't play anymore than 3 quid for it.

Sorry CM, this sucks, you've killed Grid.

I like it, pretty much the same as grid 1.

What I dont like is that I got it for PS3 and its ugly and runs like a dead dog unless your happy playing with about 20 fps and even less at busy turns etc.

I'd have to say I prefer Dirt 2 to Grid 2. At least Dirt requires a little finesse and skill.

The voiceover guy needs a patch for muting, he just adds to the misery.

But the most I hate about Grid 2, it WON'T LET ME DRIVE!!! A driving game that forces you to powerslide everything, everywhere, to be competitive... oh and smash your cars off a few barriers because it doesn't really slow you down.

I've had a quick go with the higher tier cars and they take a little more skills to drive imo as they are less drifty. I also found after playing some multiplayer races (which was great fun!) that there is a different layer of skill to the driving. I managed to find lines that were increasing my laptimes per a second a lap, the actual drifting and handling seems fairly straight forward on the early tier cars due to them being so slow but there is a higher level way of driving them if you know how!

Or I'm waiting on my cd key.

So you bought it for £40 on the console, and in spite of how utterly terrible the game is decided to order it on PC also. Genius ! :p !

To be honest the game is decent, it's not the greatest arcade racer but it's probably better than the last few NFS efforts, 6.5-7/10 so far.

I have Fanatec pedals that allow precision braking and in Grid 2 it takes a LOT of effort to modulate the brake so the game doesn't force you in to a slide.

Racing line doesn't seem to really matter because clipped the apex often pushes you wide compared to powersliding the corner which pulls your nose in... I'd like to see that tried on the road.

I'm not sure I have the patience to endure the crapfest just to see if the later cars are a bit better.

I actually prefer NFS Shift 2, that was a passable and enjoyable arcade racer.

I pirated it on PC to give it a go and since I don't like pirating games I bought it. I had pre-ordered it on Xbox months ago and forgotten about it.

Drift 2 would have been amazing and probably one of my favourite games if they made it like Grid.

I'd edit your post about the PC version bud, you don't want a holiday.

I actually prefer both NFS shift games, didn't try Showdown but would love Codies to do another TOCA !!

I hate to say it but I'm actually enjoying this now. I think it's just the mindless pick up and play for half hour at a time appeal. Online is good although I'm crap and a lot of ramming which tbh at times is hilarious.
