GRiD Reviews Coming........

Peoples tastes do differ you are correct mate, my most played game this year without a doubt is Williams Pinball Collection on the PSP, yet I bet it is nobody else's :)

No, but I think I will end up getting it myself.

I LOVE Grid though.
I think it's brilliant. 9/10? I'd probably mark the demo close to that anyway... with the exception of the drifting, I didn't go so much on that personally.

The track race is great fun, and then when you get the hang of it, jump into the San Fransisco race... fantastic fun. Edge of your seat action, crashes galore... though when you get the hang of it, coming first each time isn't hard. I think the handling is bang on though, for this type of game.

I tried the PC demo too, to make my mind up which system to get the game on. Pretty much the same to be honest. I ran it in 1080p and got 60fps no problems, so it did look sharper and run smoother... but to be honest, basically, the games looked very similar, and felt very similar, except I use a 360 pad on the PC, which I don't like as much as the DS3. So I'm gunna get the PS3 version, as I prefer the controller, and lazy "ease of use" ;)

I think the people that slam the handling in this game, must be people who are more into Sims? Therefore this game isn't really for you anyway, it's a fun, arcade blast. Just my cup of tea :)

No, I prefer Arcade racers and I think the Grid handling is crap.

If it was anything close to something like PGR, which is neither too arcadey nor too simmy, I think the game would warrant 9/10 scores.

Horses for courses, I thought the handling on PGR4 was far too, what's the word, it was basic, simple.

I much prefer the handling on Grid I must say.
But, to each his own :)

Nothing stopping me enjoying my play on Grid, while you enjoy your play on PGR.

I will still play Grid, even if it's just for the sake of playing a new game. I just don't know how people can class the handing as good, even taking taste and opinion into account.

And if PGR was basic, god knows what this is :p

They must have changed it rather vastly if those scores are reliable, the demo handling was utterly abismal.

It felt like someone had stuck a stick through the middle of the car, and it was running a few mm off the surface on some kind of track, and just swivveling in the corners.

It obviously pivotted around a central point, and there is absolutely no feeling of grip. It either just goes round the corner like its on rails, or spins randomly, with you in no control.

very responsive too me , i also find the racing to fast compared to other racing games ,its like its on fast foward

Me too, I found the handling to be excellent.
A few games and you've got the hang of it.

I love flying into corners, just tapping the handbrake to start a spin, gently squeezing the throttle to control the spin around, and when facing in the right direction again, just ease the throttle off to get grip, and slam it and off you go, great fun. Add to that the fun of clipping other cars while flying around the corner, and the speed of it, I find it a genuinely exciting, and fun game to play, as have my mates who've played it.

We're all ordering it, and I shall be disappointed if they did change the handling from the demo to main game, which I'd imagine, with it coming out so soon, that they'd not be doing anyway.

Well, that's Codemasters physics for you, as has been seen many times before. Some people like it, some don't, I don't. This is why we'll never see another decent F1 game for the foreseeable future. I personally gave up with codemasters after the abysmal DIRT. As mentioned earlier by nismo, PGR has the kind of arcade physics we need, powerful, slidey, controllable and predictable.
Grid has a mind of its own sometimes when it loses grip, it tries to somehow be realistic then or something... Can't quite fathom it out, but like it I don't.

The problem is that there is a point at which the brakes 'bite' and you pivot around rather unconvincingly. After playing the demo for a while though I found that being a little gentler on the triggers got me round the track quickly and with out that problem. And it was fun. Its on my 'to watch out for' list so these reviews are a good start.

The demo was **** imo, as others have said, the same handling as DiRT was a mistake. Also it felt WAY too fast. I used to love the old TOCA games, TOCA 1 and 2 were bloody awesome. Since then it has just gone to ****.

Won't touch this one.

I thought the demo looked abit better on 360 than ps3 but i didnt try hdmi on both demo's and the difference was little , i reckon i will get the 360 version just for the achievements .

Overclockers always seem harsh on Codemasters' racing titles; other forums I go on are 90% positive, with the other guys hating the handling because they are sim fans. Personally, as someone who likes PGR4 AND Forza (but dislikes Gran Turismo) - I loved the GRID demo. It was just fun; I'm not interested in making my car pretty - I just want to have a good race and that's exactly what I get out of the demo.

Obviously it's not everyone's cup of tea, but people on overclockers seem overly harsh imo.

Am I posting on a forum or a medical journal?

No idea htf the game is getting such high marks. The drift portion of the demo I really liked but the race side of things was a mess. Full Auto F T W!!! :D
