GRiD Reviews Coming........

I don't like sim racing games and I found the handling in Grid weird, far too slippy.

I wonder how many of the people who like the handling actually drive. I noticed a few years ago after I passed my test that all racing games suddenly felt really weird and nothing at all like driving, even the sims. Haven't been able to get into a driving game since. :(:o

Having just played the demo yet again...this game just proves how rubbish Codemasters are with driving type games...i really dont hold out much hope for the F1 game that they will bring out.
The handling on this game is exactly how it was on Dirt and i found that such an awful pile of crap that game. I dont think Codies should be allowed to make the F1 game, they will only go and ruin it if its anything like Grid or Dirt.

Such a shame because the gfx on the demo and Dirt were simply stunning but good graphics does not make a game.

Very **** poor effort from Codies, im going to avoid this game like the plague...even if it was under a tenner i dont think im going to bother..

Please star out all swear words - Zefan.

Tried the demo at last, really poor :( Its a shame because the presentation of the game is very nice, menus seem nice, graphics are sharp with good framerate. But its just let down by really floaty handling.

Having just watched the F1 qualifying it brings tears to my eyes knowing that these muppets are going to do the next F1 game with these same god awful physics.

Judging by coments on here. They took the engine from Dirt but didn't change much in terms of physics/handling.

Shame really. Dirt is one of my favorite racers, up there with Forza2 for me.

Even as an arcade game, the handling is super poor. Burnout has good arcade handling, even PGR to a certain degree. Grid's is just bizarre, like it doesn't know what it wants to be.

What he said.

The handling just fails on every level in my books. Its not fun, and its not realistic in any shape or form.

Yep have to agree with you, i just dont think Codies are going to be able to make their F1 game a true representation of F1 racing imo of course.

Unless they completely overhaul the gaming engine, its going to be exactly like Dirt and Grid which in all honesty will be a massive shame.

I cant see them doing that though, mainly because mags are giving their games very high ratings so they will probably think dont fix it if it aint broke:(.

But again who knows for sure, ill be keeping an eye out for the new F1 game...and i really hope Codies do their homework on it...

who knows how they will handle the next F1 game.
As Spawn has said, unless they start from the ground up with a new engine it'll be the same as Dirt and Grid. Actually it's already been stated that it will use the EGO engine that the other two use so that's that then.

well if thats the case i'll be happy as i rather have an arcade game than a sim and i like Dirt and Grid, lol

Some one earlier pointed out...

The people who are enjoying the handling of this game.. Do you drive in real life?

9/10 is just idiotic really. Dont even think ill rent this game. It looked so nice as well :(

Fair enough, if that's what you like I don't deny you :) However, F1 by its very nature, is more 'sim' than any other and as such it should be based so. If they could do a 'arcade' and 'grand prix' (sim) part to the game that would be great, give us all what we want.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.
Perhaps I worded it wrong, I mean it's very 'precise' in nature, braking points, throttle control, racing line etc. This is something that codemasters will not be able to do accurately imho.

Formula 1 in real life has a reputation of being incredibly difficult, this translates over into the current official game if you turn off all driving aids and turn up the difficulty etc. It FEELS like you're going insanely fast and if you make a small mistake, its all over.

The dirt/grid engine is too easy, even in grid with ALL the driving aids turned off it feels too... unreal. If this mechanic is taken over to formula 1 it will totally ruin the sense of speed and, for lack of a better term, danger associated with it.
