Is there a single person here who would take a 2.5Ghz CPU and 4K display over a 1080p display, 1.8Ghz CPU and double battery life?

At what point do we stop actually caring how fast the CPU in a phone is?

I agree we don't need higher PPI screens at all - 2K is stoooopid.

Faster processors/gpus are ok as they always clock down to the performance you require at the given time.

I do right now. My HTC One is too powerful for decent battery life, but it has the features and build quality that i'm after.

Where exactly?

The S4 is a sleek and premium looking design. Plastic case aside it looks and feels like a solid piece of kit. A couple of leagues above the phone it replaced.

Its still looks quite tacky in certain areas - the shiny fake metal bands and the horrible looking rear cover. G2 and G Flex look better while still being plastic, imo.

Still got touch wizz though :/

touch jizz :/

what more can they do at this point?

everything is in excess, its only really features they can innovate with.
For me no phone has everything, but i dont see how hard it is to do everything

big battery,
good screen,
good cam,
premium non plastic body,
sd card
RGB NLED for me :p
good speakers

all these things exist but no phone has it all

and its a samsung :p

2k wat.. Talk about pointless! 1080p is the Max you need IMO! I'd be happy with anything over 350ppi.. Samsung of course is playing the number game and more more non techy people pay attention to that! At work I see a lot of girls discussing the tesco hudl.. Because it's a quad core CPU!!! It will of course be a great headset but I kinda hope they improve touchwizz color scheme which IMO is rubbish and generally make the interface 'lighter' and add some metal to the housing.. My oppo for e.g. feels like a brick o could kill with :o while s3 was solid yet felt 'meh' nexus 5 is right in the middle here it's solid and light and I love the rubberised coating.

No device launches or MRs in Jan 2014 then?
They just spent all their budget extra subbing S4 prices on all networks for a few weeks. If there was really an S4 to be launched in Jan then this is the weirdest stock kill and wind down i've seen in a long time.

Nothing is impossible but in general January is a month when people are poor in the western world and sales for handsets are low across Europe & Americas.

I have to disagree with this... the S4 is noticeable cheaper feeling, and also audibly creakier when pressure is applied vs for example the LG G2, which is all plastic but feels very solid and doesn't audibly creak when you exert bending pressure. The SIII, while certainly less sleek, also feels more solid and substantial when you put them side by side.

If they do an alu waterproof casing for the S5 though, I will be all over it like a particularly virulent rash. However I don't see how they can do that without sacrificing the removeable battery aspect, which in all honesty I couldn't give a toss about. As long as it has an SD card slot then I'm happy. :)

I never compared it to the LG. While the LG is nicer built the white UI LG use is not nicer. Swings and roundabouts all round with this sort of thing. My post was in relation to someone saying Samsung have lost their way when in fact they haven't. Each new model is better than the previous model on build, style and function.

I didn't say you did compare it to the LG, you just said: "It looks and feels like a solid piece of kit". I am just saying, objectively, that even though the the SGS4 is slinkier than the previous gen, it's not really a step up in premium-feel of materials used, even over the SGS3.

Also, again objectively speaking, the LG G2 is being lauded for having a UI that is actually pretty decent, and general reviewer concensus is that it's nicer to use than Touchwiz.

I haven't used it personally other than a test in the shop, so can't give my own detailed view on it, but either way I quite like Touchwiz in combination with a replacement launcher, so don't quite get the hate for it.

Reviewer consensus means nothing if it differs between actual every day users :p

I don't like the white accents in HTC/LG's UI, the black on black works much better like stock Android or Samsung devices. Samsung especially because of AMOLED, it just looks and feels nicer.

Just stick the rom on from the g flex. That has an AMOLED screen with matching black UI.
