GT3 vs E92 M3 vs GT-R Autocar Video!

Makes me want a GT-R even more, and one of my dream cars. Probably will never get the chance.

If you are considering getting one housemaster, I'll eagerly anticipate the day you own one :P And post pics ofc!

Although your porsche more than stood up to it.

Wonder if chris harris is regretting having bought the M3?

Chris harris is so gonna be on our tv screens soon. But im really starting to love this GTR. Its £30k cheaper than the porker but can show it up at times. Madness

Having now watched the two videos above I would say this...

I think the Nissan is like each and every new Skyline before it in that it moves the game on in terms of its use of technology, its breadth of abilities and its performance. As a road car I think you would stuggle to find a quicker A to B machine today, but then like every other Skyline I think once the initial hype has died down its lack of 'event' or 'purity', though somewhat subjective perhaps, will be its weakness.

I was actually suprised how little gap there was to the GT3, I expected the Nissan to be MUCH quicker in that situation, which I think was a great test actually. Get in, one warm up, one quick lap and in. In such a situation I suspect most people would be much quicker in the Nissan and be much closer to exploiting its abilities due to the cleverness of its design. I am a GT3 fan of course, so perhaps have a less than objective perspective, but I don't think I would want to spend £60K on that car when I could have a 996 GT3 RS and would never consider cancelling my order for the Mk2 GT3 because of how quick the Nissan is, or how better a road car it may well be.

You see I don't really care how much quicker the Nissan is than a GT3 because it will NEVER be close to a GT3 in terms of the fun it provides on a Sunday morning, the challenge it offers the driver or the sheer feel it provides, Chris Harris reflected that I think, and I suspect (and hope) the Mk2 GT3 will move the game on again. To many this will mean far less than its outright pace and on this point the Nissan is simply astonishing, but to many of us its more important. Amzing bit of kit mind, and I suspect on this forum and many others it will be simply the best car out there and even in my eyes for the money its astonishing!

Got to remember this is your standard GTR. They are working on the V-spec model :)

Ive driven a 911 on track and they are amazing. I agree the GTR would leave me feeling cold on track. But its a road car not a track car at the end of the day :)

Yeah I think you've got it spot on.

I'd still be torn between the GT3 and the Nissan... there's something about the Porsche. I think the fact that it'll kill you more easily appeals to me.

Just goes to show that the new M3 does in fact suck balls, and his face when he realised HIS car wasn't going to stop! classic!

The nissan is great, but for me, it would have to be the porsche.

Very good review, very fair conditions and shows you just how capable the GT-R is.

If I had to choose just one car out of the 3 for all round day to day use it'd have to be the Nissan, however in an ideal (and less cash strapped world :p) I think I'd want the Porsche and the Nissan, the Nissan to get me across country as fast as is possible, and the Porsche to give me a visceral experience on a weekend hoon/track environment.

Nah, I wont be getting a Nissan even though I think its a fantastic car, though somewhat ugly to my eyes. I have tended to have 1 car that I use for both day to day and weekend fun but in the future that will change I think. I would not buy the Nissan as a weekend fun car because I don't think its that type of car, and I would not spend (because I can't afford to!) £60K on a day to day car AND have a weekend special car.

And the Porsche in that video was a 997, mine was the 996 version, though in real terms there is little performance in it.

The thing is for 95% of people, the car isn't the limit as to how fast you can go, it's the driver.

The GTR will be easier to push than the GT3 etc, but will be less rewarding and given a good driver, I'd say the gap will widen.

What are the Nuremberg ring times for both cars?

Some good reviews, but i dont think the Porker would be behind if it had the correct compound tyres on for the conditions, i would rather be in the GT3 as a day to day and track car, any numpty can get in the skyline and do the 0-60 times every time, but the GT3 you have to drive it, IMO thats the whole idea of race car, to be the driver and in full control.

Evo magazine apparently got the GT-R around Bedford a lot quicker than the GT3 which will come out in the next issue.

The M3 far from sucks balls have you actualy driven 1? the other 2 cars are race track cars i class the M3 as an awesome GT car, the brakes are not great as i found on my lap of the ring in my BMW E92 2.0i M sport, they went spongy at the end.

Its not a race car. Its a £60k fast road car.
