Then don't compress it? Anything saved at 95% or higher will be indistinguishable. I used JPEG 80% for my screenshots it looks just as sharp in game.

And PNG is lossless mate. :)

Yeah I'll have to edit the file, it was all really dark with overblown colours.

So, I've had GTA4 for ages when I got it dirt cheap in one of the steam sales but never got around to actually playing it. But seeing some of these mods I figure why not?

But there seem to be several versions being mentioned in this thread, and many screenshots without the version mentioned. So... which one should I download? And can you recommend any realistic car packs as well? Thanks :D

can someone please explain to me what to do ?
i install gta, do i install latest update ?, then copy contents of the mod into main gta folder ?
ive done this but then game is not responding message appears after splash screen

1) You would need to downgrade your Steam GTA 4 version to get any ENB mod to work properly. (or use a different ENB Series to the one mentioned in this thread)

2) There aren't any car packs that would be worth mentioning. Replace individual cars because you're bound to be unhappy with some of the cars in a pack.
 
just installed the mod and had to mess around with the commandline file to get it to recognise all the gfx settings and put the settings up, however for some reason now allthough in the coomandline.txt and the enbseries.ini file both state 1680-1050 (my monitor res) allthough it seems to play in this res, when i ggo to the options the options menu appears really small then states under resolution some insane res like 3200x1200 and the mini and the street names that appear when driving around appear in the middle of the screen rather than where there suppose to, making the game refresh itself by changing 1 of the gfx options fixes it but it still shows the big resolution in the menu, any idea how to fix this so i dont have to change the gfx settings everytime i start tthe game. thanks.

hmm anyone noticed when you go to the enb website http://enbdev.com/download_en.htm the version thats downloadable at this link quoted earlier http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/gionightss-best-enb-final-f9889 has been removed due to possible gfx card corruption, eek!

Due to the way this mod works, you will have to just hit 'enter' when the game loads the main menu, as you wont be able to see the bottom of it to click start game. Once the game loads past the menu it should be fine though.

thanks yeah i found a way to get the menu to work in monitors native resolution. i guess it doubles up the resolution and downscales to give some fake anti aliasing because the gta iv engine doesn't support it?

Pretty much, allthough i get 0 aliasing using this mod which is pretty impressive imo
