GTA 4 performance

That's not right unless you have 4 graphics cards?

The first number is the Vid Mem of ONE CARD
The second is the number of cards you have

So, I have 1GB which is 1024 not 1000 or 100
For someone who has 512MB and ONE CARD, they put 512 for first and 1.0 for second. Make sense? God knows what 4.0x100=400 you were thinking

it does not matter what you put,you can put 5463287218927 if you want to,the point is that it lifts the resriction on your memory,the game then allows you to up the detail ingame options...at the end of the day it works great for me on 1x295 gtx with the method that i have used or you could do it this way by modded the hell out of the exe but its a little more complicated

-percentvidmem 100
-availablevidmem 4.0-memrestrict 629145600 -renderquality 4 -shadowdensity 16 -texturequality 2 -viewdistance 99 -detailquality 99 -width 1920 -height 1080

Shift F12 doesnt change AA I think, I tried it multiple times looking at a jaggy and it never changed "smoothness" by pressing shift F12 repeatedly.

The only thing that does change is the colour i.e. its brighter and more clearer with ENB enabled and darker/duller with it disabled (i.e. when you press F12 to disable it).

Im not even sure if AA is on (presumably when you say super sampling you mean AA?)
I checked in the ini file and I think its disabled.

EDIT: Ah probably cause I have AA disabled in ini file means it wont make much difference frame rate wise :doh:

Im currently running 5770s in crossfire, is there anyway to determine if I am getting the performance I should be with these two cards?
i use nhancer for this,its an absolutely brilliant tool the is 10 time better than nvidia control panel,whatever you set in nhancer completely overides the control panel,my settings for gta 4 in nhancer are.....
SLI=AFR(alternative frame rendering)
AA=Super sampling 2x2,Transparacy AA also set at Super sampling
AF=16xVertical sync(application controlled)
Texture filtering=High quality
neagative LOD BIOS=clamp
power management-max performance
HDR=enabled
CPU multicore support=multicore

i make custom profiles for all games,when u you use nvidia control panel sometimes the setting you choose dont actually work like they should,nhancer fixes this....i dont think you can use nhancer on ATI cards though,not sure:)

Run Fraps and post what framerate you're getting. Or run the benchmark and post the results.

Running crossfired 5770's here, along with an [email protected] / 6gb 1440mhz and get 130'ish fps when in my apartment, and 60-70 fps when outside. Res is 1680x1050.

Thanks Moody. Is this with the mod? What settings you using?

I presume it is with the mod, do you have AA on? How do you disable it?

Its not with the EMB Series mod. I use the Visual IV mod instead. No aa, but looks better than vanilla GTA at least.

I tried the EmbSeries mod but didn't think it was worth the benefits.

Ah could you please link me up to that? The game does take a hit with ENB (about 10 fps for me).

I have tried this a while ago with nhancer and the SS did bugger all: it didn't work, even tried all the AA compatibility modes.

i dont now mate it works ok for me,maybe it was the driver you was using,did you select overide control panel settings and activate the profile manually yourself?

I've done afew videos using ENB mod, will try out VisualIV mod later on today.
I'll do a comparison aswell between the two but for now here is the ENB version.

Edit : comparison below

I've got it looking quitwe good with no performance drops so far.

I have found it is ridiculously easy to escape police in this game.

Also, is there any way to skip the into, the bit where it shows all the characters before loading the game!?!?!? It is quite annoying.

That's the loading screen, so no. I fired this up today after a friend was talking about it and it runs as bad as I remember, I mean it runs at twice the framerate at twice the resolution of the consoles but it's still shoddy, I can't begin to imagine what the console version is like. Really lazy coding, the engine is a joke.

There is no way to get rid of it completely but after you press Start to load the game, press your Home key on your keyboard to bring up the GamesForWindowsLive splash screen (the one that drops down from the top of the screen) and just leave it open, It should cut the intro down by a fair amount, it does for me anyway. Let me know if it works.
