GTA IV ads pulled down in US

Well what do they expect? They are advertising a completely unnecessarily violent game to small children (as the man in that video points out).

It's all about the money, they don't care about the affect it has on kids.

They are participating in the glamorisation of unquestionably sick and violent behaviour, they are in a very real way shocking and inexcusable.

It's just a game. :) Think most people make the difference. Then should we ban movies, music, books etc...?

Honestly most video games have violent content, and many with more blood and guts than GTA.

That is that man's opinion which I do not share.

Theft has existed throughout history, don't think there has been any studies that even suggest car thefts have increased due to GTA. In fact cars are harder to steal nowdays then they ever were, especially with immobilizers which are Category 2 approved by insurance companies. You have to be a pro to steal a modern car, and not a 15 year old.

Fights/beatings caused by GTA? Are you joking? There are more fights directly due to alcohol and football.

Children shouldn't be playing it. There's an age restriction on games for a reason. If their parents aren't keeping an eye on what they're buying, then they've no one to blame.

Let's ban all killing in movies and games - just incase a child might get access (wrongfully) to it.

Yes but this one markets to children, didn't you listen to what the man in the video said? Children are playing this and thinking it's ok to steal cars and beat people up.

It's the parents fault then! I used to play Army with toy guns as a kid and as far as I can remember I haven't actually shot and killed anyone yet.

Its up the the parents to make sure their kids know the differance between right and wrong not video game companies, those adverts are not exactly encouraging kids steal, drink, kill.

I always knew the differance between right and wrong as i was taught it at school and at home. Playing violent games when i was a kid has made no effect on my life or my friends who were subject to the same thing.

isnt it a 18 rated game? Maybe their parents should be spending more time with their kids and finding out what they are doing rather than dumping them in front of a computer.

Get them to read a violent book instead.

Thats what parents dont realise, I remember friends being bought 18 games and their parents not caring what they are playing. I was bought 18 cert games when i was a kid but was told when the were bought that they are only video games and in no way at all should anything seen in them be acted out in real life.

I'm thinking zefan is being sarcastic here...

Any who, it makes no difference who they market it to because it's rated 18 and as such must be bought by someone over 18, so generally a parent for their child, therefor it's the parents fault for breaking the law, just like with alcohol and tobacco.

I have to agree with Zefan here, it's marketing to an audience far younger than it's rated for, and it's bang out of order. People wonder we have so many issues with games and rating systems, and ignorant parents and such, yet here we are, complaining about adverts for GTA4 that are being targeted towards children being removed.

Crazy world.
