GTA IV

That does look fantastic. Have just finished playing The Lost & The Damned and making a start on TBOGT. What kinda performance penalty does that mod incur?

A very big one. Some nice mods are around but if you want to run all the mega high res texture mods, 2560 x 1440 res, highest settings then its going to cripple an i7, SLI setup

Ive had mine down to 10fps with mods - [email protected], 570GTX, 4gb ram

It did look stunning though. I found turning some things down slightly got me around 25fps, more than playable and still looking near that screenshot above

edit - not quite as stunning, but still nice...

Got both and prefer the PC version.
Mainly for the better graphics and mods but also for the use of a mouse/keyboard for on foot.
In a vehicle I find it better using the Xbox controller.

PC version is awesome & still looks pretty good. Console versions look horrible like the lowest possible PC settings & have appalling FPS & lengthy loading times.

PC version is the only proper one the others are just for all the people who cannot afford or be bothered with a proper gaming system like a PC ;) & yeah the gfx especially with mods looks stunning but even without mods on Core i7 & 1.5GB Vram GPU look very good still & the playability is the same but you need up to 32GB HD space to install GTA4 + the 2 DLC packs

If Rockstar gave a **** about PC gaming they would promote this game with NVidia to sell more gaming PC's as its a popular console title & looks/plays so much better on a decent PC. Its the sort of game a console gamer looks at on a PC & realises they need to sell ASAP to buy a PC to play this game ;)

Played it through on the 360 on release but when the Steam sale came I couldn't resist.

Its my go-to game if I'm bored at the moment. Using a 360 pad makes life easier too.

Played on 360 when it come out.

Got it on the PC when it come out, annoying bugs and poor performance etc when it launched, but it's ok now, and enjoy it more due to the car mods (real life cars etc) and iCEnhancer mod makes it look fantastic

What sort of fps do you get with your SLI 560Ti's? I got a 580 and get about 25-40 fps with the game maxed out except vehicle density. This is with Gionight ENB series final.

Can't speak for the XBox version but due to an infamous bug, I never got to complete the last mission of the game on PC, so I raged and have not purchased a R* product since!

/end cool story

I only played it so far through on ps3 before getting bored with it. Bought it and the episodes from steam earlier this year and am quite enjoying the episodes. Finished The Lost & The Damned and just making a start on Gay Tony. Runs pretty well although have a few of the sliders quite far down. I just let it auto-configure then increase the anistropic filtering to x16. The jaggies are annoying me though. Dose ATI's MLAA work in this game and does it make a difference?

Finished playing it for the first time on PC last weekend. It looks amazing with the proper gfx mods/settings and is worth playing it on PC just for that reason.

It looks better live.

I found turning the shadows down from highest to just above medium, they didn't lose much overall quality and the game ran way better.

Might have to give the modded gta 4 another go.

Shadows always seem to affect performance quite a lot but offer very little in return. It's why I always set shadows to off or around medium if I have them on.
