GTA V

Going to be a demanding game on PC in terms of specs. GTA IV was hard to run at launch and in some cases still is depending on whats in your machine.

GTA4 was on a poor engine though especially for the time. With next gen consoles so close to PC hardware, unlike previous consoles which were not.

I have a PC Xbox controller waiting for this game :) I hope my GTX 690 has sufficient VRAM to run it at 1080p - if it is awesome, and I hope it is, given that Tom Clancy game Division and Watchdogs was supposed to be awesome but were flops. If this flops then PC gaming is over for me, so disappointed in the last few years releases. Same with C&C - Red alert was epic. Red alert 2 was epic. Red alert 3 onwards were terrible. Greedy publishers are to blame. The quality has gone spiralling down whilst the cost to the gamer has risen, yet now everyone does digital downloads which cost them a few pence in bandwidth yet before it cost them a few quid per CD! MAKES NO SENSE.

What does worry me is - I like Steam. I don't like Origin. Yet Origin keeps pestering me to pre order it.

Wondering if I should invest in a proper controller for this

I played GTA IV perfectly on KB and mouse, only thing that was annoying were heli controls. Aiming was much easer because of all the acceleration.

I used both M/KB and 360 wireless controller for GTA4. Soon as I hop in a vehicle it was controller time, for shooting and things it was mouse and keyboard.

Best way :D

Yeh true, hopefully its a good port with some nice graphics options. Banging the draw distance up would look nice.

This! On the Xbox 360 version you can be driving along at top-speed, and the floor underneath you doesn't load, nor does the street furniture (which you don't hit if it's not drawn)

Kinda buggy, hoping the PC port is good!

I think we can rest assured that the PC version will be superior to the console versions :)

Exactly the same here KB/M and 360 pad on my lap ready to grab when driving.

Only downside to the controller is shooting from a vehicle is harder than using a mouse.

What spec? I think in most regards you'll be fine. Most games these days (if not all??) are GPU bound but play it safe, bet with mantle I guess :p

Well I was on a budget, and have moved from a Q6600 and Radeon HD 5770, to a i5 4690K and a Radeon R9 280. Not sure exactly what my performance improvement will be, but I hope it will be decent.

That will be a big jump in performance, I made a similar jump 2 years ago and the performance difference was worth it. Get your self an SSD and the performance difference will feel like night and day.

As for flying helicopters, 360 controller is the best way. I use mine in Vice city and the only thing it works properly for is flying.

Got an SSD coming as well :).

I enjoy GTA V on the 360, but aiming with the controller is so slow compared to a mouse. On the PC, I'll probably use keyboard and mouse whilst on foot, and controller for vehicles.
