GTA V

Anything that runs on a PS3/360 isn't going to need mammoth PC specs.

Mostly.

If you think in terms of low/medium/high, then low chance. Good luck with high settings on such a card (and I suppose 50-60FPS is the target) on games like FC 3, BF 3, Crysis 3, The Witcher 2 and so on. Besides, that 1GB vRAM may also kill performance and make a CF setup useless.

Anyway, we shall wait and see. :)

Well GTA4 ran fine on my GTX460. /shrug

But then I normally disable AA as I'm only using a 23" monitor. And I normally use 'High' presets instead of 'Ultra'.

But to say you won't be able to enjoy GTA5 on a 5870 is a bold statement, and one I personally wouldn't agree with.

I watched the multiplater video... My good god that was wonderful!

Why can't I get on with V? I love GTA but the performance hit's and quality just bugs me! haha.

Hope the new one runs better on PC.

Won't run it (good enough and probably on high), don't put words in my mouth. :)

Yup IV was a ****-poor quality port

It was bad, but not THAT bad imho. You only have to play IV on a console to see how much of a step up the PC version was.

There is hope for a decent port though if Max Payne 3 is anything to go by, I just hope we don't have to wait too long for it.

It was that bad for me, I expect a good frame rate on my PC even maxed out, for it to have been a good port, but I got nowhere near that! :(

Corridor shooters are easier to port than gigantic sandboxes though. Especially now that V has an Elder Scrolls-esque system of A.I which makes it so that everyone everywhere is doing something even when you aren't there.

I wouldn't get your hopes up with the PC port.

True enough, but it has never stopped their being bad shooter ports though. I just hoped it showed that they had learnt their lessons and improved the whole process but maybe that is a bit of a leap.

What were the gta 4 pc sales like? Good or bad?
If they were good then, really why would they not release it on pc?

It is guaranteed to be released on PC, all previous GTA titles have (bar the mobile ones). The only question is how long we have to wait and unfortunately that is an unknown. Interesting "guesstimate" article here which shows just how varied the release dates have been: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/05/01/gta-5-pc-release-date/

The distance from console to PC release depends on how much you'd expect to lose from piracy. For GTA games that is going to be very high, hence the 6+ month delay. By this time most PC pirates will have given in and bought the console version.
