Update 1] An NVIDIA spokesperson has offered this official response; whether you believe it or not falls to you.

“Please note, during our Thursday’s earnings call, our investor relations team provided a list of important games that gamers are looking forward to on PC this fall, and included Grand Theft Auto V on that list. This statement was made with the intent of expressing enthusiasm for the games industry in general, and was not intended to represent specific knowledge possessed by NVIDIA. NVIDIA does not have information on any possible PC version release of Grand Theft Auto or its availability. We deeply regret the error.”

NVIDIA obviously got their knuckles rapped for making such a statement in the first place.

I for one am hoping the PC release is forthcoming -> if only for the inevitable superman mod...

I'm not particularly fussed on a PC release. Makes me giggle those taking punts and asking about the rendering distance. It looks good enough on console IMO, and they've had a lot of time to optimism the engine since IV. It really doesn't make a difference to me whether I can play with SSAO and it be crystal clear or not. GTA games are so much more than that. Also their track record for quality porting leaves a bit to be desired, so we aren't missing out on much really IMO.

It does look fine most of the time on console but, say when you're up in the air, if you've played on both console and PC, in fairness, the difference in draw distance is massive.
