GTA V

They probably are running on consoles, but dev kits with more memory as well as being able to bake the images a bit to get a sharper result. Think Forza/GT5 photo mode or any other screenshot from any other game, gameplay never quite looks as good but all the models/textures and such are the same and its very close.

Just had a read through that link and I think it looks impressive. Open world map size is great and glad it's just one whole area rather than separate islands, as when I had previous versions I just wanted to go explore first before starting missions. Suppose I better find a new console from somewhere if no pc release anytime soon....

You PC guys really are getting in a state over this aren't you. :p
Not a state as such but would seem like a real let down having to play the game on an inferior platform especially as the mods for GTA IV on PC really made the game shine.
I don't understand devs who ignore the PC market Red Dead Redemption would have sold big numbers on PC without a doubt recouping the costs, seems very short sighted to me, restricting the revenue stream is a bad business decision in my book.

Don't even know what the worry is. I'm pretty damn sure it will be released on PC at the same time or maybe 1 week later.

Not sure how long you've been PC gaming, but Rockstar are NOTORIOUS for releasing titles on PC up to a year after console launch, if ever.

I've purchased GTA IV on PC 3 times - once at retail, and twice on Steam (once for myself, and once for the girlfriend)

I really want it on PC, I'll only entertain getting it on console if they don't announce a PC version (I'm hoping to god that they will announce a PC version)

They seem to have decided to just not even bother.

Thats my feeling as well.

We cannot asume they will release this on the pc.

This is factual straight from rockstar:

"we are concentrating on the xbox 360 and ps3 and have no news about a pc version"

No way in that sentance(not exact words but 99% similar) suggests it will come out on pc.

So at this moment in time this game is "not coming out on pc" and only on xbox 360 and ps3 :(

No, but history suggests it will likely come out on PC at some point, just don't expect it soon.

The only game they haven't released is RDR as far as I know, all GTA games have (well minus the little handheld ones)

Its bound to be out on PC in some form or another, either ported by Rockstar North or Take2 will pawn it off to another Rockstar team to finish the port.

I'm guessing it will continue to be Rockstar north and will be developing extra content for PC like the movie editor from 4 as well as some other goodies. They will be able to use the PC version to develop some tools in prep for next gen as well as seeing what benefits they could maybe get out of next gen. I still don't think it will be very well optimised for the PC and the performance will end up similar to GTA 4 if you want everything on the highest settings imaginable, yet if you run it consolified at a lower resloution, draw distance or lack of AA it will run fine :p

I kind of thought that the fact that it hasn't been announced for PC is a good sign. It means that they are taking their time with it and not just realising a crappy port.

I would rather wait a few months after the console release where they can really focus on the PC version and get a far better GTA game than if they just realised it at the same time like GTA IV.

It never crossed my mind that they would not release it on PC....

Same time as gta iv? Longer the wait doesn't mean better the product, it most likely means they have it on the back burner while the team work on console.

If any of you have been following the development of Windows 8, you might be aware they are integrating the Xbox services into the OS. Maybe, the delay in PC announcement is just because of this.

+ GameInformer said they demoed the game on PS3, which may well be in good hope that the PC version isn't a crappy port.

And a compilation from the GI reveal I gathered;

Planes/Bicycles/ATV/Jet Ski's
Map size is bigger than IV/SA/RDR combined
Underwater
Building rapelling system
Completely revamped Driving/Shooting/Melee systems and mechanics
Convertible cars
Return of Ammu-Nation
Detailed mini-games (Full fledged golf course)
Loads of things to spend your money on, a vibrant economy
Lots of detailed interiors, including skyscrapers
Dynamic pedestrians (Gardeners waiting at bus stops at 6AM, then you will see them gardening on properties by 9AM. Women shopping in supermarkets.)
Dynamic encounters (Random pedestrian events, ala RDR)
