GTA V

When you plug in a game controller on quite a few PC games the onscreen icons change to that controller anyway (case of X360 pad) so it could be just someone using a controller on a dev PC?

It's entirely possible, but PS3 controllers aren't usually natively recognised by games/PCs so they'd surely use a 360 controller in that case.

Various gaming journalists saw the game running on PS3 a few months back, so far nobody seems to have said that any of the footage shown yesterday is any different in quality than what they saw.

Watched the trailer, visually looks good but not super awesome. You know what though? I don't care how it looks if they manage to pull off what looks like some excellent gameplay ideas and the MP at the end.....NEED TO KNOW NAAOOO.

I really want to play GTA IV but the random frame rate drops really get to me :( I just want smooth 60fps but it seems you have to reduce the settings drastically to achieve this.

That trailer is sick!

So how long until it is out on PC and am I being wildly optimistic thinking I can just spend £200 odd on a new GPU and run it at a decent rate?

From reasonable to child panting smudges? lol.

Lowering your shadows to high and the draw/view distance to 50-70 removes the deep drops without much hit on IQ. Only 4 threads are not enough, even on a modern i5 overclocked.

I would look at a fast CPU as well.

Why would cpu be a main factor for this? Everyone knows gta4 had various engine bugs meaning even high end cpus struggled. Gta5 has a new engine so can't imagine this being the case still.

On 4 my GTX 460 struggled with an ocd i5, no problem with a 570 though at 1080p and now 1440p on a 780.

It's just an updated RAGE engine, I wouldn't expect any wonders from it. With such a large and open world, it's bound to put a heavy impact on the CPU, and console ports from Rockstar aren't exactly known to be well optimised.

Think i might but a 12gb ps3 between this and the last of us its tempting!

Tell me about it. There was that deal on a pre-owned PS3 320 GB for £90 including some warranty. I wish I had gone for it then, there's a dozen or so PS3 exclusives that I'd want to play.

Hate to think how much this has cost in development and how many employees they needed to pull this off. Must be one of the biggest costing games surely?

I read somewhere that all of the Rockstar offices were working on this & freelance people, the numbers mentioned were around 500+ people and that they were bringing more in for the PC port (a separate group).

I'm so, in-explainable-y excited for this, Uni starts on the 30 of September, just got to remember to book the actual 17th off and I should have plenty of time :D.

Just watched gameplay video on YT, wow what a big game looks on another level to other games, a bit like GTA SA at that time i suppose.

Will be very disappointed if no PC version is released though.

Max Payne 3 runs Superb on PC, and GTA5 is based more around that engine. Just look at the shooting part in the trailer = MP3
