Eurgghh i need to have Windows Media Player installed to install the R* Social Club software.

I've been disabling IE and WMP for years and this is the first time one or the other has caused an issue as a result. Funny thing is, is that I would have had them disabled when I had MP3, GTA IV and LA Noire installed, so I don't really understand the change.

It looks like the Rockstar Launcher/Installation Tool uses a sharing system to distribute the media?

I'm on a rubbish 800kb/s connection here, so I downloaded a bandwidth limiting tool (so other people can still use the internet in the house) the Launcher is not just downloading, it's uploading too.

Most launchers use a P2P systems these days, cuts down on server load.

Similar story here, shared internet connection so unless i limit the download/upload rate, it slows the internet down to a halt for everyone else in the house. Usually, with torrents (mainly) this isn't a problem because setting a max download/upload rate is easy. Thinking it's a bit silly Rockstar didn't bother to add a simple option to limit the download rate, wouldn't of taken a lot of time/effort to add in such a simple feature and with a 60GB download, you would have thought they'd of planned ahead.

NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN GTA PRE-LOAD :D

Is the pre-order bonus gone on steam now? It wasn't there yesterday.

It is still there, if you head to Special Announcement where it talks about the 60fps trailer, press READ MORE and you will still see it there.

I originally preferend running windows 8.1 pro N , as I assume N means neutered haha , due to it stripping out media player and all associated applications / processes . However I did find GTA IV required ( after much f*ng and blinding ) so reinstalled the package and presto ! Didn't have l.a noire installed at the time so can't comment on that but IV certainly needed it , not sure if it was a codec thing or what but refused to run without it . Having it disabled may still mean access to certain things in its libraries but having it not there completely ****ed it lol

I'm using NetBalancer at the moment, seems to do the job nicely :)

Buy it from Nuuvem instead, and save yourself some money. £34 from Amazon vs £20 from Nuuvem =

I'm rather curious as to how they're going to squeeze 60Gbs of Data onto a PC DVD, maybe the case will contain 8 x Dual Layer DVDs?

Comes on 7 DVDs I'm sure I read somewhere.

Also with regards to Nuuvem, there is the risk that there maybe region locking as there has been no definite answer on it yet. That said I think it will be region free.

Ahh remember when games used to come in boxes this big and a manual thick enough for 100 toilet trips.
