GTX 1070 - any takers?

It's called a generation leap and die shrink - cheaper components become more powerful. It's not going to be £450

Why would Nvidia care? The 980Ti is EOL.

FE is already confirmed as £399. Custom ones will probably be anywhere between £330-£450.

Do you reckon OCUK will list them on their website on Saturday 10th June so we can pre-order?

I reckon they'll be £300 and hope I'm right as thats what I want to spend. I was thinking about 1080 before but then thought its too much to spend as I normally only spend about £200 on a GPU's and I currently have an R9 290 4gb so will be a big jump going to a 1070 anyway so i'm sure ill be happy with it for regular games and VR.

Yep, I expect it will be a similar launch with 1070 FE cards available. I'm not sure if any of the custom cards will be though. It is promising that the MSI gaming 1070 X has been reviewed though. It may indicate that the custom cards aren't far away.

Gibbo would normally give some indication of stock levels but he's been away in Taiwan. He did say before he left that there were a lot of new cards hitting the shores soon - both 1080s and 1070s.

Going by 1080 pricing in the UK - £619 FE, as cheap as £529 for non-FE, and stupid MSI asking for £649... I'd honestly imagine the cheapest 1070 will be either £309 or £319, with most of them falling between £329 and £369... and potentially MSI going stupid and charging £409 haha

Agreed. With the generally easier overclocking and lower thermals of the 1070 vs 1080, I maybe wouldn't mind an FE, and a blower card might be handy for a small case. But I begrudge paying the FE tax so hopefully custom cards are out soon.

I have a preorder for a gigabyte g1 1080 so it'll be a straight race. Whichever ships first gets to stay

There's a chance they've been building 1070 cards alongside the 1080s so you never know. The chips have either been binned as 1070s or 1080s so nVidia must have had them at the same time to send to card manufacturers.

Still in two minds about this. There are some 980Tis on the MM that are starting to get really cheap now, and then there's Polaris at the end of the month (slower but cheaper).

Decisions decisions.

That's likely, also considering they know the 1070 will sell much more than the 1080.
