GTX 1070 - any takers?

If it makes any difference the non FE cards start from $379, so some cheaper aftermarket models should be under £350. Just like the 1080 with aftermarket cards starting £95 less than the FE at OcUK.

thanks bud I dont even mind waiting for aftermarket cards I think they will be quicker than the 1080s with the 1070 having more time since the announcement. Ive been waiting for have a card in my pc to play the new witcher dlc and getting my prestige master on cod 9800gt aint cutting it lol

How much will the 1070 be price wise?

That's the million dollar question right now. Most estimates look at ~£400 for the FE and ~£350+ for aftermarket.

Don't forget that the profit margins are going to be much lower on that card than on the 1080 and demand is likely to be even higher so you're not going to see the circa £100 off FE prices that are appearing for 1080s atm.

Not to mention it looks like they have a good jump in dx12 compared to the 980ti as well. Not that big a deal now but could be during the 1070s life span

980ti's will all be firesaled off for around £300 soon anyway.

They won't because nvidia ceased production of them a while ago. They're not stupid. What stocks are left are basically what remains in existence.

That obviously won't happen, otherwise you'd be able to get a 970 for around £100-150 and that would only rob the new cards of sales. There are solid economic reasons why this can and never will happen.

No matter how these are priced, it doesn't bode well for the resale value of Maxwell.

If I had spent £800 on a Titan X I wouldn't be feeling too happy right now :(

He posts the same thing nearly all the time, like he's trying to shove in peoples faces who bought a 980Ti to make them feel as if it's worthless when it's not.

Anyways, it looks to me like the 1070 may end up being the sensibly priced card for the performance.. bit like the 970 vs the 980 but without the vram issue.

In fact from the benchmarks i have seen I'm not even sure that GDDR5x was even needed for the 1080..

Why is the vram issue still being debated? This was one of the first things a few reviewers checked and confirmed it's not an issue with the 1070.

Hmm, was hoping it would be a bigger leap over the 980Ti but it wasn't as big as I expected. Therefore, I may just go with the Ti if it is cheaper.

Stock vs stock, I think 1070 is 1 or 2 percent quicker than Ti.

Both overclocked, the Ti is, on average, 7% quicker.

*Granted that is only 1 overclocked reviews results.
