GTX 1070 - any takers?

£350 would have been good for FE, £300 for custom. I mean Nvidia are already milking us with the 1080, the 1070 could have been fairly priced.

These prices are way to high imho. If AMD do launch a GTX 980 level card for circa £200, I think they are onto a winner in this climate.

That is exchange rates for you.

The AIB models should start from about £30 more.

As I already said earlier - this has nothing to do with exchange rates as they are priced similarly in the US (minus vat of course). This is just a reaction to AMD's announcement, as nvidia and board-partners planned on pricing them lower, but with no competition this is what happened. Pretty sure nvidia knows what kind of performance you can expect expect from Polaris as well, so I'm sure there's a reason why the prices for the gtx 1070 are really high.

Indeed. Once a nice custom 1070 like the MSI gaming, EVGA SC, G1 can be had for ~£350 I will bite. Until then Nvidia can stick it.:p

and if AMD bring out something as fast and cheaper before then, I will just get that instead.

Exactly what I'm going to do now. Hoped to have a new 1070 today but I'm not paying that out of principle. I'll keep my 970 for a while longer, I'm going through some older games I've never played yet from my steam library like FEAR and Dragon Age and the 970 is spot on.

I feel AMD are missing a trick here by not releasing some info on the new cards to spoil Nvidias launch, especially now they can see people's reaction to the pricing. I don't see the point of waiting until the end of the month when people have already spent up on the 1070/80s. I can only assume there isn't anything impressive to show?

If there's one thing most people agree on, it's that AMD marketing sucks, majorly.

Either that or they have nothing to compete with a 1070 right now... Maybe the performance they're getting on their 490 isn't stable yet, they still have work to do. Problem is, time is against them.

I have gone for a 1080 myself but I just seen OCUK prices for the gtx 1070 @£400 up ;/

I was expecting the prices to be like the 970 around £280 up I guess was wrong! :)

These prices are ridiculous.

I don't even need an upgrade from my 970 as I game at 1200p. But at around £400 for a 1070 plus the price of a 1440p Gsync 144hz monitor.... No thanks!

I was expecting prices to be around £300.

Pretty much this

I'm desperate to replace my R9 270x, but I'm not going to be raped by Nvidia to do so

Good, serves them right for being greedy

Saying that though, they seem to have sold out everywhere, although that might have more to do with crap stock levels than enthusiasm for the card.

Yes does serve them right ....

its looking like low stock and every post i am reading about the 1070 is negative.

i have a funny feeling there will be a drop of both the 1080 and 1070 sooner then we think once the stock is level .... will see
