GTX 1070 - any takers?

what? have you been hiding under a rock for the past year? AMD Drivers have not been bad for a few years, Xfire support has been horribad, but single card support has been sublime for the most part for a number of years.

Its tosh like this that makes me laugh when people think of AMD, they USED to be bad, infact i'd say Nvidia have had more driver issues than AMD lately.

Quoted for truth..

People thinking that AMD's is going to be £200ish are the same people who said the 1070's will be £320 plus. Who's to say AMD are going to see these prices and bump their prices up too.

The really sad thing is that if the AMD RX480 arrives at higher prices than expected, people will still blame NVIDIA, rather than blame the AIB's, distributors, importers, and retailer's.

It seems there is price gouging going on because stock is very limited.

Basically Nvidia are having production issues with Pascal and will not have meaningful stock until mid-late July.

This adds more evidence to the speculation that Pascal released early with a large production candidate run in order to beat Polaris to the shops. This is why we see the price gouging and very little stock because Nvidia decided not to wait for a production ramp so they could stockpile 1080/1070.

It's kinda backfired because even if they sell their limited stock a lot of people have been left with a sour taste in their mouth due to the antics from Nvidia.

As much as there are justifications for the current pricing, some more legitimate than others, its still sucks when they stand on stage and say that they will be available for $379 ($455 inc. VAT), which was already a price increase on the previous generation, and when they get to us the lowest is $535.

I wonder, if NVidia hadn't so loudly announced the msrp if people would be more accepting. It is still effectively a 980ti speed card for £400ish pounds. 6 months ago we were all happy to pay £600. Fingers crossed AMD pulls something good out of their bag.

You know, that EVGA rep said on twitter the price was 'due to costs.'

If the thing about production issues is true, then it makes sense.. Distributors may be selling the cards at MSRP due to low production, so retailers are having to mark them up even more.

Could be a possibility. And a poor choice by Nvidia to release this prematurely, if so.

Possibly. All the custom stuff is ~£50 more than they should be in relation to the MSRP.
