GTX 580 Review

so if them 2 graphs are accurate, you can simply put the 5970 result right inbetween a single gtx480 and cf5850's, which means in that benchmark 5850cf + 6850cf + 460 sli + 5870cf + 6870cf + 470sli are all faster which also means 480 gtx will be faster

Here is some proper Dirt2 benchmarks

6870 is banging out them FPS. Its only 10% less than two SLI 480...
5970 naturally destroys 480 upwards of 30%
6850 xfire is on par with SLI 470 GTX

My experience of Crossfire and SLI setups has been pretty poor. Sure, they look good in benchmarks but both technologies have issues within real games, namely stuttering and litte real gain with minimun fps.

I personally will prefer a single top-end card (5870/6970 or GTX480/580) to mated high-end cards (6850/6870 or GTX460/470). Cooling, case size and mobo's can also limit SLI/Crossfire usefulness for many people.

For me, the only new cards that count are the 69xx and GTX580 (aka GTX485:)).

Looks to be beating it comfortably, same as the GTX480 being beaten

Yeah its beating it. But the its going up against a 1.2 year old gpu.
Without the fps counter you wont be able to see the difference apart from
Heaven and lost planet.
Not as much of a jump as i thought...

To my relatively untrained eye there is a substantial increase over the other two cards in some games. Considering we were expecting it to be a revision of the 480 rather than a new part, what were you expecting?

If the price falls below 400 and there is no obvious retailer rip-off tax, I may be in. Currently have a 260 so for me a good upgrade.
