GTX 580 Review

Read about this power throttle so as not to exceed the PCIE spec.
Seems to me that Nvidia have some ulterior motive and in essence, throttling is the only way they were able to impliment 512 cuda cores and hence get this card into production.

In reality, will this 300W throttle really affect the cards ability to overclock because if so, seems like Nvidia may have scored an own goal:confused:

Let's face it furmark puts an unrealistic load in the GPU, even when highly clocked I doubt we will see any problems in games, if you're a furmark nut the then 580 is not the GPU for you lol

Check this guy out below, 920 core on air and a huge vantage score for a single GPU.
That's my card! Here stock cooling 1.138v:

No one reviews the 5970 anymore. all if not most reviews use older drivers.

But every crossfire review I find uses the 5970 as a comparison to measure the crossfire 6870 performance against.

you really are blind arent you or just a really bad troll, the 5970 gets kicked square in the nuts by a pair of cheaper cards, deal with it.

Well no they are not. But a 5970 with EK block is £550.

2x 480GTX with blocks come to £900-£100.

just a lot of money for not much :/

well £650 for two with stock cooling and will still beat the 5970, why the high prices, where did they come from

A Pair... with waterblocks = more money

The Vantage score above is poor, Why?

the GPU FPS scores are low

wheres the waterblocks come from? lol.

im talking stock prices.

2X 6870 = £400

a 5970 = £549

these are OCUk prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol lol lol you FAIL big time.

that Vantage score is nothing to do with crossfire 6870 you are now confused.com lol lol

I dont buy card unless i can have a wc block aswell??

I don't like the way the reviewer has done several things tbh, it's an all round fail in my eyes.

  • Outdated benchmarks
  • Wrong drivers for the 5970
  • 465 instead of the 460
  • Stupidly low resolutions
  • The GTX 480 on an older driver
  • Dirt 2 in DX9
I'm sure there's a few other things I've missed too......

I avoid the GPU forum now because of all the fanboys so forgive me if someone already said it but:
Seems to me like the reviewer did everything possible to make the 580 look 'extra' good compared to other current high-end cards?
Nvidia pay-roll ?

yeah i understand that m8, i was just saying about the 5970oc will beat anything comment, when stock 480's come out on top, let alone watercooled/oc'ed

If he was biased towards Nvida he would be running Dirt2 in DX11 and not 9 which gives AMD the performance advantage and Wizz just gave the 6870 a glowing review and 9.1.
