Hi peeps, read a few forums that Nvidia will be releasing the GTX 780 in August. Can that be true? Thought it would be a 1 year on from now....

no it's between the two cards, the GTX 690 is the dual cpu card, this replaces the current GTX 590, this is the card i'm after.

unfortunately i dont know much about the 780, but i doubt it'll be as much as £600.

the GTX 690 has better performance than the older 590 :eek::eek:.... much more so, it will be about 75% faster than the current 680..... so the hype sais, try 60% to be more realistic :cool:
 
I heard it was coming out this year, but was going to be in September/October at the earliest. I also heard that it's the kepler refresh, sorta like what they did with the 480 and the 580.
 
Rumours were that nVidia couldn't get GK100 working (huge die problems I think) so GK110 was effectively replacing it.

In the meantime GK104 (much smaller die, originally destined for GTX670Ti/660Ti) performed so well compared to HD7970 that nVidia rebranded is GTX680 (presumably the card first planned for GK100) and launched it thus.

GK110 should be to GTX680 what GTX580 is to 480.

I'd also expect it to be an absolute monster!

I hope there isn't....It was bad enough telling the wife "I NEED this 680". Hopefully it will be released in January though, so my bonus will pay for it.

That's if the upgrade itch gets me again.
 
may and june for both and the rumour is that these two monsters are as easy, or easier to OC than the 680....... which is far more than could be done to the GTX 590, because as you know, that fried and failed, but this new dual CARD 690 is ok for OC, thus is maybe 65% faster.... not sure !

in comparison, the dual card 6990 can not be OC and is infact de-tuned, the specs are already online.... forget it, plus it maybe 14'' long... not sure

so if you're going to be an idiot like me and waste your money, then the GTX 690 wins easily..... :cool:..... because at least this one has got loads of grunt......i cant help myself..... i just want it, it's as simple as that

for BF3 2560 X 1600 :-

the 780 is 85fps
and the 790 dual card is 130fps

but this is a massive Res, so for 1080p this 790 monster will be flipping crazy, maybe 160 fps :eek: and even this 780 on 1080p will be crazy too

the trouble is on google, you keep reading diff stuff, even so; more powerful than the 680 for sure
