GTX 780 Owners Club

Average 156fps maxed at 1920 x 1080

Interesting, I'm getting average 123fps on a 100/100 overclock on my one card at 2560x1440, I can do plenty more but at 150/150 the benchmark blank screened and came back bad, but when I overvolted by just .13 it was fine.

Is it really safe to overvolt? I have seen a review say +.38 is very mild but I can't afford to lose this amount of money.

Well I got an average of 127fps on Arkham Assylum at 2560x1440 2xAA with a 120 clock 100 mem but I can't get much more than that even with +.38 volts as it either will totally crash or black screen and comes back bad. I wonder if the higher resolution I'm running has anything to do with it, I will drop res down to 1920x1080 and see.

Nope, doesn't seem to make that much difference on overclock, only a little, average of 169FPS at 1920x1080 2xAA, I don't get it.

Alz, can I assume your lower FPS of 156 is because SLI isn't working in this game and your running more than 2x AA in the benchmark?

That was using whatever the maximum settings are.

Edit - At 2560x1440 with 2AA +140 / +200 I get 162 FPS - but you are right - Sli is broken on this, usage goes all over the place and neither card hit high usage.

Decided to go all out with a GTX 780 in my new build but which brand? Looking at EVGA or Gigabyte? Which one has the better support? Looking to use it with a Haswell 4670 and a Z87x OC board.

EVGA offer excellent support, if it was me that's the one I would go for.

If you are ever planning to go SLI, maybe you can have a look at using a Haswell 4770k. There are only a few things at the moment in which hyperthreading helps with SLI but this could change in the coming years.

I second this its good advice. Evga have better support - that seems to be the general consensus.

Yeah I've done that. It holds my overclock settings ok but loses my voltage occasionally. May have to go back to using Afterburner.

Just checked this and my volts are back to normal and the +.38 isn't selected. But my oc is still stable so..... Defo a problem there but I won't have to change things right now. Has it affected your system stability?

I bought a gigabyte & its very quite, its not the best looking card but it cools the chip to 67c, mine is the OC WF3 ! Stock boost is 1168... Haven't overclocked it yet ! Gigabyte's support for me has been very good but I hear EVGA is one of the best !

I bought a Palit GTX 780 - found it for £512! The card is worth it IMO. Runs silent compared to my old HD7950 and the performance boost is noticeable.

Got it running at 1163 (85 temp target and 106% power target)

Got mine delivered yesterday Coming from 7870's in Crossfire the performance leap isn't huge (didn't think it would be;)) but it's smoother, quieter and cooler and I love the aesthetics. Will hold onto the 7870's to see what the new AMD driver brings, but will probably end up selling them on. Liking it a lot already.

Thanks I'm only thinking of a single card at the moment. What sort of PSU should I be looking at for these cards? Was thinking of XFX.

It causes a Nvidia driver crash during gameplay when boosting to 1200mhz

If you aren't planning to use a second card, then any decent 600WPSU should be sufficient cor a 780 and a nicely overclocked CPU. For an SLI setup I would go 850W. You can probably get away with 100 or 150W less in each case, but always worth having some headroom ehen it comes to power supply.

As for as the PSU brand, I like the corsair HX and TX series. Solid as a rock. Got an HX1200 myself - overkill yes, but it's a beast.
