Yeah, it's impressive from that point of view - same performance for half the power, or halfish.
But let's be honest, most on here couldn't give a flying **** about saving power/ saving the rain forest, we just want some proper releases to get excited about.

If those new benches are to be believed (not sure, some results look dodgy, but they are probably roughly correct), the 970 is on a par with a 290X....and uses about half the power...How on earth is that not a big jump from a 7970?

Still not sure why they have the removable not on the backplate.

Its hard to see but the backplate looked like its made of plastic, which doesn't really scream high end.
