There is a fine line with arguments, many threads have them but some go too far, but out of human nature it'll happen again no doubt, just how far people take them I guess.
As No1newts said, it's difficult to debate... when we're told to stop at an artificial point.

But It's hard to deal with when certain members are simply arguing by ignoring things people say and making it up as they go, it's almost tantamount to trolling , but I don't have it in me to report them because it could all be a misunderstanding.

Then you link a vid where you engage a mob and stand still for 15 seconds while you let it hit you, although to give you credit I assumed you hoped the blind would've made it miss?

It was only my first 5 hours of playing the game.

Firstly you can only dodge twice before your endurance runs out. If I can take damage without dying from a single hit then I'll do that and dodge later.

And yes my blind was working, as was the gale, and summon to hold agro. I farmed that ettin boss three times in a row without dying so I dont think I did anything wrong.

It's beyond saving to be honest and I'm not prepared to spend a whole day removing the ****. The only choice is to nuke it and start again but really, if you [when I say you i mean everyone] doesn't like what people post, then stop replying to them.. People complain about trolling yet feed them by quoting themselves. You kind of fall for their bait!! I'm not discussing this here but will be keeping an eye out.

When someone is consistently presented with coherent counter arguments to their points, and continues to ignore them and re-hash the same arguments, you have to realise that it's not about the game, it's about being the centre of attention at any cost.

The only solution to something like that is to ignore the offender until they get bored and find another audience.

If so I will put in the effort to set up a new thread with a full info OP etc because I'm bored of this now and I know I keep coming back to the thread but I do actually want to chat about the game!

Yup the rest of us don't want to be punished for the select few that love arguing.

Although i would say it isn't down to one person, multiple people have already mentioned they dislike certain aspects of the game but keep mentioning it in every other post. It is like they are trying to force feed you their opinions and it is getting rather tiring to be honest.

I can understand with the particle effects and so on, but considering how many people were probably in Beta and how many are complaining about melee it doesn't even scratch the amount that played. We will always see the people who post the negatives, ie. dislike certain things but the ones who never have a problem never do post.

So if they decide to help melee then fair enough, if they don't then either choose a class that you do enjoy or try to get to grips with melee. I found it hard on my thief at first, but once i weapon switched a lot and learned the class it was far from impossible to melee but i wouldn't say it was easy. It has a steep learning curve and considering i've played Thiefs/Rogues/Assassins in every MMO for the past 5+ years was a bit of a shock at how different this class was.

To be fair I've been counter-accused of 'trolling' for ceaselessly replying to him... and I actually ended up slapped with a moderator warning . I guess mods don't have time to come into every thread and read the context to get a nuanced understanding of what is going on. I've appealed to reason and have tried to rationally outline my complaints to bhavv over and over, but he'll keep coming back calling people "noobs" and "WoW players" and basically everything that isn't his little cabal of GW2Guru regulars. It's tiresome but now I know that even arguing against it with good reason is futile, because someone will probably report out of frustration and you'll only get punished for it. He's a lost cause.

Go here and add them to your ignore list.

It would be wise to ignore them and move on with discussions to do with the game.

As I mentioned above, it would be best if you added them to your ignore list and continue as normal, because you will be wound up with it all and end up getting yourself a holiday (from the forums - You're not in a competition for a free holiday ).

Considering getting this [Tera], or at least trying it out! Was disappointed with GW2 to be honest, considering the immense messianic hype, and think perhaps a more modest and typical no-frills Korean MMO will provide a... simpler... type of fun.

Doesnt make sense to me. If you dont like the game then why even read or post in this thread?

There is no single other game out there in existence that I enjoy anywhere near as much as GW1 + GW2. I dont want this game being changed / nerfed because people who dont like it and prefer the other games that I hate, and want it being changed so it matches the gameplay and easier difficulty of other traditional MMOs.

Your constant "I'm the only true guild wars player, My opinion matters more than yours" attitude is tiresome and neither this thread or the game itself would miss you if you weren't about.

Maybe a lot of people would be happier playing a 'simpler' game like Tera instead.

Just because I was a little dissapointed with the beta doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed to post in this thread. I enjoyed gw1 and have high hopes for gw2 but I Wil post negative comments and criticisms if I feel they provoke interesting conversations and debate. Far to much fanboyism in this thread sadly

All I meant by 'simpler' was that it's a game that doesn't aim to completely reinvent the wheel, and thus is a game that probably isn't going to disappoint in its ambitions. I'm still keeping my GW2 account to see how it turns out, but the obvious conclusion from this lengthy discussion thread is that the huge fundamental changes they have made have been met with mixed reception. It is also an extremely complicated task for Anet to really carry this off: they're going with no template, and they're aiming high. By 'simpler' I only meant a game that has a more modest aim and is willing to stick to a formula. That can be fun too, you know! Though I find it quite immature and underhand of you to quote my posts out of context. What are you trying to prove? That we're 'simpler' gamers than you? Please. I think everyone here that you have complained about and quote-trained to infinity has made sensible, reasoned complaints. You just can't stand to read them, so you drag the thread out for 5 pages. Of course it's simple to say "everyone ignore bhavv" but you keep dragging more and more people into the fray and of course they only instinctively react to you...

I feel you won't be happy until every negative person has ignored you, at which point this thread will be a 1-person bhavv universe. Sheer solipsism.

Players who prefer the tradiotional MMO gameplay should maybe stick to playing those games. I have no interest in those games, my interest is in the reinvented brand new game that is Guild Wars 2, and its obviously higher difficulty that so many people seem to hate.

Why should everyone ignore you when you clearly hold the entire thread's negative posters in contempt?

I never said that anyone should. Why shouldnt I be allowed to post in a thread about a game that I actually enjoy, but you clearly dont?

I think its true that GW2 has an exceptionally higher learning curve than WoW. Players wont have yet been able to learn how to fully play their class within the mere 3 days we had for the beta. Other than the need to turn down particle effects, I dont think that the combat should yet be touched in anyway based on however many complaints, until players have had enough time to fully learn how to play their class and the game.
