Guild Wars 2

So did anyone record some good beta footage?

Not much on Guru or on the locked official forums :(

Seen a 'few'good ones of peeps in the training grounds trying out different builds, think that's all i'm gonna do next BWE.

So the only person that actually enjoyed the game shouldnt be allowed to post in its thread, while all the people complaining about it being bad, and even admitting that they have no interest in buying it anymore should be allowed to rant on and on about how bad the game is?

The only person? you need to get over yourself asap. If people want to criticize the game you can't take it this personally, it's embarrassing to watch you be so defensive. As your main fall-back is always "why are you complaining about it on OcUK" why don't you actually heed your own words and just let it go if it's so pointless? you see the irony that you're the one who has kept the discussion of the relative strength / easy of play between melee and ranged afloat? had you not jumped down everyones throat at every opportunity it would have been a couple of offhanded comments that would have been buried amongst the pages by now.

Well it seems like I was only person that enjoyed it when everyone else seems to be whining about it in some way or another!

Inkursion definitely didnt like the game.

I wouldn't say you were the only one though. I enjoyed it immensely and although having a few problems nothing was gamebreaking for me other than the way the game ran.

It would probably be better if you both put each other on ignore.

I really liked it, thought it was awesome and can't wait for it to come out.

However, I have plenty of things to 'whine' about over GW2... whilst I understand fully it's beta this thread could be a nice place to discuss what I felt it didn't perform on and what it could do better with others who tried it out to get other perspectives. This thread may not be read by the devs, but opinions formed here may inform them via the ingame reporting feature in future betas.

I did like this game, a lot, and will be bringing a roster of MMO vets over to the game when it launches to play it to death this summer/when it launches. However I had some misgivings about certain design decisions, certain bugs and design lacks, and a general worry about melee. I articulated those clearly and with reasons. You dogged me (and anyone else that voiced a similar complaint) and dragged those relatively minor complaint into a 10 page drama-storm.

At the end of the day this is because you invest far too much of yourself personally in GW1/GW2. That much is obvious for everyone to see. I said it in my first response to you, when I had only first encountered you on this forum. It's clear from the offset that you take every complaint about GW2 as some sort of personally-wounding injury. You need to stop investing so much of your ego into a computer game. It's going to be disastrous for you, pal. It's already turned this thread into a really unfun place to discuss anything. People don't want to have to look over their shoulders or double-check whenever they want to say something not-positive, ** stop the provocation *

Thats fine, but the main person here thats slinging the complaints keeps doing them post after post, page after page, for the last 50 pages or something, while stating in other threads that he didnt even like the game.

....

Considering getting this [Tera], or at least trying it out! Was disappointed with GW2 to be honest, considering the immense messianic hype, and think perhaps a more modest and typical no-frills Korean MMO will provide a... simpler... type of fun.

Whatever.

Anyhoo.....

With regard to the 'missing' races. Were ANet trying to stress test the starter areas? Did they handle the load? Were quests re-spawning fast enough, etc?

From what I saw in the Charr area things ran pretty smoothly. I think the human area got a little bit overrun...ended up in overspill a couple of times.

GW2 didn't satisfy my want for a new seamless world and I didn't like the melee play too much (for reasons much tread over). Hence I was disappointed in my own personal expectations in some ways. Thus I am also looking into Tera Online as another game to play, too. They're not mutually exclusive. People can play more than one MMO. We don't have to swear allegiances. Discredit the argument not the person, please. And remember that 'person' here is many many more people than me, who you keep singling out.

Now talk about something else, please.

One thing I was a little bit disappointed with (Correct me if im wrong), but I only get 5 weapon skills for a weapon.. all the way until max-level? Nevermind the utility skill unlocks, but it would be nice to unlock some new skills for that particular weapon along the way... :(

It is going to be very different from other MMO's in that way, Kouba. You can have all of your skills for one weapon set before level 3. You're going to be using the same 5 skills for that weapon set to level 80. You'll have to adjust to not look forward to unlocking any higher-level specific abilities. A lot of people voiced the same thing but this is one of those design decisions you have to trust Anet on :)

Can you guys quit the arguing? I'm sure this is a thread about GW2, there's been more discussion about GW1 and silly arguing than actually about GW2. If you disagree about something, that's fine. None of you are right/wrong, they're opinions.

Personally I loved the beta, it had it's problems but they're all fairly superficial I found and I expect them to be fixed by the time the game comes out. Things like pets dying too much, melee having a hard time with all the particle effects etc can be fixed and aren't inherant flaws in the game mechanics.

Quests dont respawn do they? Oh I suppose you mean after they are completed, from what I could tel, most of the dynamic events are continuous things, and its only the world events / bosses that respawn.

I can see how that would be offputting but there's a couple of things to remember.

Firstly, you basically have 10 skills to choose from, you just have to swap weapons. It adds to the tactics. e.g. if there's a boss that spawns adds, you might want one weapon that does good single target damage for the boss then another that does good AoE damage for the adds, or you might want a weapon that has good CC for the adds. You have to think about what weapons you equip before the fight rather than being able to have 20 skills and pick them as you need in the fight.

The other thing is that in other MMOs I've played, you generally only use 2-3 skills for 90% of your rotation (it varies, but it's usually less than 5). The others are either useless or CDs that don't have much impact on the game and in a game like GW2 where it's about lots of action, they'd detract from the actual mechanics of moving around lots.

Anyone have a clue when the next open beta weekend is? I'm feelin the urge to play :(

All the previous ones have been monthly towards the end of each month. There's no date for the next one yet but I'd imagine they'd keep to a similar time-scale.
