Guild Wars 2

I just tried warrior today and got him to 11, and although I thought a pure melee may be a bit dull, due to different weapons still being very similar in abilities, it is quite fun.

Also, as for WvW, it's a bit silly to think winning or losing right now is anything special, as most people seem to just pile onto servers like Desolation, who are up against 2 weaker servers. It's not about desolation players being better or anything, just the match up. Once the game goes live and servers get ranked against other similar skill level servers, things will be better.
 
Having been playing a Mesmer since BWE1, not having much else to do with it now since it's 30+ and WvW has gone damp I decided to try a new class, and I thought meh may as well see how melee is... picking Thief thinking after 30 minutes I'll grow bored and move on to another class. I'm now thinking Thief might be my main come release, such a fun class. Deathblossom = epic and it has a deathgrip for highly amusing PvP ganks.

Only 15 on it atm, anyone got a thief like 30+ are they still that much fun to play? :o
 
What happened to the bomb kit for engineer? Did they remove it? I hope not, I enjoyed using it last beta. The mine and grenade kits are totally useless... you couldn't kill your own grandmother with them.

Bomb kit is still in.

Really enjoying the WvWvW. Looking forward to playing it on some established servers with more experienced players come release.
 
Cba to read through the posts, so if someone could answer my question if you're feeling kind? What has changed since the previous weekend Beta? As i haven't played this weekends one as i forgot all about the email i received, so yeah, i forgot to install it.
 
i get an increas eof 10fps and there are a couple of new chat channels i noticed.

Also, the special effects on spells have been toned down a tad bit after complaints from people saying they couldnt see a think when you had like 10 people dishing out spells on a single enemy
 
One of the highest populated servers in EU vs 2x new servers who barely have 2 players to rub together. I think pwned evokes some sense of skill on our part, was a faceroll if ever I saw one.

so why did WvW match us up against a low populated servers? they need to balance that better as im sure deselation is not the only full server around
 
Do you think it could be released at this stage. Are the missing out the other two races for beta ya think? I hope they leave it for a suprize like
 
Played on the friday only, was sorely dissapointed with my Thief, got it to 30 during this BWE and it just felt weak and squishy.

Made a warrior which I found, more manoverable, capable of better burst and it was far more entertaining, but ultimately I still want to play a thief, I just hope/pray Arenanet listen to all the feedback given.

i think it can. most game breaking bugs have been fixed now. i'd give it one more BWE at most before it goes live.

i think for the next BWE or for one night only, they should allow us to play/create a char thats max level so we can test out the end game stuff

Performance needs a significant improvement, and we haven't seen most of the game, I'd say it's at least a couple of months off being launch ready, but then I don't like seeing games rushed out before they are ready.

From where I'm standing performance is absolutely fine, maybe some small tweaks but hardly "significant improvement".


My only real comment after this weekend is in the combat department, ranged is still way too easy compared to melee and far more effective, casters are just way to resilient.

Also I still think the Elementalist has far too much going for it.

I agree performance need to increase a lot. I just managed to log in for 10 mins last night to see what difference my new gtx 670 made over my gtx 470 from the last beta and there wasn't much difference. Frame rate still dropped into the 20's wandering around a couple of cities.

It must be bad for some people with min recommended spec.

I could understand if it looked amazing but it just looks kinda underwealming. All a bit blurry with low draw distance.

I actually prefer the clean crisp art direction from gw1, from what I've seen so far.

dont forget, each beta is a month apart so in theory, they would have 2 months to work on this game to fix performance issues based on us having one more BWE next month and then fixing any defects after BWE3 and releasing the game a month or so later.

i do agree, performance needs tweaking when their is a heavy battle going on but in general questing and just playing with a few people around, the performance is decent.

Certainly better now then in BWE1.

i also do agree they should not rush this game but IMO, i reckon they are around 2-3 months away from release.

i Reckon this will be ready around October.

The game's CPU bound in just about every scenario....

I barely managed to get above 30 FPS all weekend. Changing graphics settings had a negligible impact on framerate if any at all.

The game turns into a slideshow wherever a lot of people get together, this is a game that encourages a lot of people to get together very often...

Maybe your happy to play your games at 10-30 FPS but I'm not.
 
That's a realistic time frame, I see a lot of people suggesting the game could have launched in June, and now these same people are saying July. It simply isn't that close to being launch ready.

i want this game to run bug free like Rift.

Rift was sooo polished when that came out.

I still stand by what i said about the devs allowing us to play with a max level char and testing end game/high level stuff though before release.

that could be useful even for just one night instead of a whole weekend.
 
There was a huge boost in performance for me this weekend, but turning on fxaa easily halved it. Still looks amazing with everything else at max though. From an engine/stability point of view, I think it's ready to go.

Still lots of tweaking needed on classes though, I found a lot of the engineer stuff in particular a bit pointless.
 
Performance wise a big improvement over the last BWE for me. Only time it lagged was fighting about 40 peeps in the middle of Stonemist keep.

Constant CTD's though in WvW, usually at a crucial times :(
