Guild Wars 2

Not open beta though. As the other beta events, it is is pre-purchase only. So that stuff of buying a key and adding it to your account is not valid, I think.

That's personal opinion based on good business sense, and based on what they did for GW1. Let the hype build, do an open beta just before release (AFTER you've tested the bejeesus out of it with the closed tests, and know you're not going to crash and burn) and watch your sales go through the roof.

IIRC Guild Wars 1 had open beta tests around a year before the game launched.

Got a feeling there is not going to be a open beta, or if there is it will be for a very short period, but really don't think there will be one at all.

A late open beta would be a good way to stress test the servers and give the game more exposure to those who didn't pre-order but I dont think they will do it.

I consider these betas more to their advantage than ours.

I think they have done all the stress testing they need :)

I would be shocked if they did an open beta, they don't need it, the mass of positive press going around at the moment is more than enough hype. Not that the game needs it anyway.

open beta gives all the wow players a chance to moan about it in public forums, keep it closed to purchasers and we'll have good press coverage all around.

Although it is actually a bit unclear what 'final' refers to in the following sentence, it does seem to mean that there will be no more (open or otherwise) betas: "... I’m excited to announce that our next and final Beta Weekend Event is planned for July 20-22."

Nope I take that referring to the 'normal beta events' that have been going on i.e pre-purchased only, they really don't need to have a open one because,

a) They have all the stress testing they need done (bet there will still be issues on release day but this is the norm :D).

b) People who pre-purchase are normally do not give negative feedback on other forums while still in beta, yes some do but not the majority.

c) They have sold a large amount of games via pre-purchase, so they have had pretty big beta tests already.

d) As said players from others game who have not bought and may very well never buy it will give negative feedback because the game is not exactly like the on they always play (cough wow players cough)

It's funny how in other MMOs, people would condemn them for staging open betas to get more sales, but here people are actually urging them to do it.

I suppose that's testament to the company itself, as well as the way in which they've conduct this pre-launch business. I wouldn't mind another open beta, it would just be more time to play! Plus it would get some hopefuls a chance to try it out who don't want to lay down the money upfront.

But hey, whatever happens, I can't wait! :D

Yeah - been reading around a bit since my post - you're right - not worth it to me... maybe a collector who wants everything - but I can do without :)

Trying to purchase the std edition - but seems GMGs payment system is malfunctioning... can't buy GW2 or Secret World :( Just bought End of Nations & now the same payment options aren't working - nor are different ones, fun.

I really want this but I cant justify 40-50 on a PC game right now :(

Ill just wait until release I think
