just a heads up probably doesnt matter but there is a patch to be downloaded for gw2 on the launcher.

just incase they have any sneaky stress tests u wont have to wait!

Hmm maybe not 24/7 though.....who knows when the sheduled maintenances are done by these guys normally on guildwars?

Guildwars2 has been designed for live maintenance. Meaning if all plays out well there should never be downtime for maintenance ever. However probably won't work out like that I'm sure there will be some downtime at some point!

Guild wars 1 was done like this. Can't remember much in the way of downtime in my time playing it so hopefully more of the same with Guild Wars 2.

I must say, Guru is a real weird place. Some people take Arena Net philosophy way too far, rejecting even optional grind and showing utter intolerance for those that enjoy working towards hard to get things.

There was never downtime on GW1. I specifically remember when new patches were applied, you had to exit the game and re-enter to get them. If you stayed logged in, you'd eventually be left on your own on the old patch while everyone else switched to the new one.

Same as GW1, then. When news came that the Denravi sword had been nerfed, players who were logged in were able to buy as many as they could carry for future sale. I wasn't, and I still made out like a bandit selling mine for 100 plat and 34 ecto.

that's the kind of thing that makes tales of glory in mmos great! Certain exploits in Tera were less great as they ruined the game for anyone not max level at that early stage.

afaik, guild wars 1 has had a total of 32 hours downtime.. in 7 years!

So can you obtain other pets later? I tried a ranger last night and had a choice of 3 pets at character creation!

Throughout the game there are juvenile animals in certain locations that you can go up to and tame. So all rangers can unlock all pets, or just the specific ones they want and ignore others, whatever they want.

I just relised that I will be off for a week on Annual Leave when this is released. The only problem is that I am moving into my new house so may not have internet :|

When I moved I scanned for wireless networks and some had house numbers so I went knocking and gave them £10 to use the signal password for a month

Always a good way to get to know people too

Really that could be a good idea may keep tht on the back burner. I may just say that we are already in the house and organise a date over the weekend we move in? Not sure about the people living in the area. Will check it out first =p nothing stops them from changing the password 5mins after handing the money over.
