Yup, some of the first guilds that have been around since forever have had some Beta invites thrown their way.
 
Interesting they don't ask for Guild Wars 1 account information, I guess previous achievements don't matter for the beta.
 
I don't understand why people are shocked that having played GW1 has no effect on your chance of getting into the GW2 beta...

They never said it would effect your chances of getting into beta and just because you have played GW1 doesn't mean you will be a better beta tester than someone who hasn't played it... :/
 
First MMORPG beta I've ever signed up for. I usually don't like the idea of playing a beta, especially if I know I'll be getting the game regardless, because I'd rather start my adventure in the game in its finished state; I want my first impression of the game to be as good as it possibly can.

Simply can't help myself with this one though - I must play the game as soon as possible.

they could still check from the email addys and filter out the people who never played gw1 if they wanted

Okay let me rephrase what I said. Arenanet has never said that playing GW1 has any effect on your chance of getting into the GW2 beta and yet there has been posts on here from people who were surprised that there seems no obvious links between playing GW1 and taking part in the GW2 beta..

TBH as well as guild wars accounts never go inactive so there is no way to tell people that played guild wars 1 didn't just buy prophecies day one play for an hour and then never play again. Also if they start saying guild wars 1 users get priority then there will those that say people with more expansions should get more priority etc. It just complicates matters more.
