Guild Wars 2

Well the boxed CE is too much and I dont want the rytlock figurine, but the digital CE has loads on ingame stuff I want, but I cant find a price on that one ...

Doesnt the boxed CE also come with the ingame digital stuff at £130? If not then thats just terrible.

Ok, I found all the info here:

https://buy.guildwars2.com/

I really ought to just treat myself to the boxed CE, I have to have it, and can probably sell the physical box and items later if I want to.

June. The betas for pre-orders are weekends only, and that can only mean stress-tests. Stress testing is the last thing you do before release, and it's beginning in April. I'm saying definitely no later than June.

Seeing as the pre-order is available on April 10th, I would probably estimate the game to be out in very late Q3 - Early Q4 this year? Just a guess.

I doubt they want people purchasing the game to get into the beta then allowing them to cancel afterwards before release.

*Edit*

Just noticed the pricing is on there now.

£49.99 for the normal
£64.99 for the digital deluxe

That's some freaking steep pricing for a PC game!

All the other games I've ever preordered have been preorder key for access now then retail key later to activate full account. AFAIK GW2 is the first game to implement this nature of lock in.

the beta events and pre release trials are to encourage people to play, some will like it some wont, they'll have a lot of people that were on the fence about it not purchasing/pre ordering at all now, no?

Don't forget though, this just guarantees you entry to the betas. There's still the chance of being chosen from the beta signup they did two weeks ago.

Basically its a con to make you buy from them rather than retailers, sadly for those that can't wait for the game like myself your just the sucker.

I'll most likely be paying £65 for the deluxe version. I loved GW1, I suppose if I get the same amount of enjoyment from this one then its worth every penny.

I keep telling myself I can easily spend £10 on a round of drinks at my local so in reality this is cheap entertainment.

I always figured it would be more expensive because of where its a full blown MMO this time, with no subscription fee. I always imagined that they would make the required money on the initial layout fee. I'm fine with 49.99, at the end of the day, Buy GW2 (49.99) + play for 1 year (0) = 49.99 , compared to most MMOs, buy the box (34.99) + play for 1 year (12 x 8.99) = 142.87. So I'm happy with the GW2 pricing :D

£64 for Digi DEluxe :(
£50 for Standard

Giraffes all over the place ! :P
will look for preorders elsewhere fi theres none of this lock in crap

Yeah, I'll be grabbing this from some e-tailer no doubt. I can live without a three day headstart considering I'll probably play the game for a couple of years straight. :)

GW wasn't priced that high. And if its not possible to play a demo/beta/trial before purchasing then this game has immediately lost my interest. I spent 1000s of hours on GW but this is nothing like it so unless I get to try it first I think I'll just not bother.

GW1 games were 24.99 for the standard, £49.99 for the boxed CE for each game, that's only £20 more than they are charging for the GW2 CE.

I would like the CE box very much, but I think I'll be shopping around for the digital deluxe instead.

It seems daft that they are selling a game without fees for such a tremendous price, that kind of like defeats the point of not having any fees. GW1 fans will still snap the game up at this price, though if you aren't too bothered about vetting it fast then I'd wait for a lower price.

I dont think its too bad a price really, 49.99 and no monthly fee ever is essentially what you'd pay for the average MMO with just 2 months of time. Compared to how much gametime you get on the average MMO release for an expenditure of 49.99, its a decent enough deal for me. I mean you could say that GW1 was a slightly different beast as it wasnt an MMO and so wasnt party to the same kind of development and ongoing costs but all in all, a single one-time payment of 49.99 and having unlimited play time for that I think is a better deal than the normal MMO fare. If for example an MMO came out with one of those Lifetime account options and I was told the Lifetime account option was 49.99, I'd consider that a brilliant deal for an MMO.

The game isn't GW1 by a long shot. Its in the same universe with absolutely massive changes to the gameplay mechanics. The only reason I'm even looking at it is because its a sequel to GW, even though it has seemingly nothing in common with it.
