Guild Wars 2

And Thieves still have a frankly ridiculous 10 second disappearing-act ability (plus other cloak abilities too) alongside their stupid 15-20k spike damage.

With WvWvW literally overrun with imba Thieves and Mesmers (and to an extent Warriors) these days it's a wonder people play anything else at all really. Unless ANet step up and seriously fix this then I think WvWvW and possibly GW2 as a game is limited in its overall longevity.

I've got 7 characters, my warrior is my only current level 80. I do have a thief (only level 40 and a mesmer, level 66). I quite enjoy my warrior in WvW, I'm a pistol thief by choice so I dont bring quite the devastation that other thieves do. My mesmer is ok, but to be honest I find my mesmer is a bit of a one trick pony in WvW, I'm essentially wanted for my portal and not much else and I find my damage output is so minimal that I have trouble killing anyone with him. Overall, so far in WvW, I'd said my favourite character is my warrior, just because I like to wade into the fray with him. I usually dont make it out alive, but I find that if someone doesnt charge forward everyone just hangs back all the time, once someone charges people follow, so I find him enjoyable as it gets things going so to speak.

Looking forward to the Lost Shores kicking off this evening, I've booked 8-10pm time slots with the missus for the next 3 nights so I can experiance the events as they go live.. :D

It kicks off at 8pm then?

The event is planned for 8pm GMT. If you want to be in your own servers instance of Lions Arch though you will most likely need to be there long before then as just like the halloween event there will be lots of overflows and big queues to get into your own servers instance of LA.

As a free to play MMO it's much more likely that those who have stopped playing are going to come back at some point, so big events like tonight will really draw people back in. Unlike a pay to play MMO where the cost of subscription can often stop people wanting to try it again after stopping.

i like how i can stop and pick it bk up.

This is something i like about the game too, i stopped playing after i hit 80 with 60% world complete and had acquired few exotics. Now i started playing again over the weekend, it seems really easy to get back into it. Im going try and get back to completing each map while grinding SE runs every now and then.

Has anyone had a CPU upgrade whilst playing this game?

I'm on a Phenom II 955 and even on all low at 1080p I get like 10-20 fps when there's lots of people. I have an ATI 5830 and my friend with an i5 2300 and a ATI 5570 has better fps than me at low. When I goto medium my fps doesn't drop much compared to low, so I'm thinking the graphics card isn't being stressed enough, and the CPU just isn't coping?

Thoughts?

I'm nearly lvl 20. Guess I'm going to miss all this new content. :(

Am I right in thinking if I drop my craft (as in leatherworks, cookery etc) and swap it for something else I don't get penalised in any way?

I'm wanting to do a little cooking as I've collected loads of materials but its just to get some Xp and ill go back afterwards to my main two picks.

Been a lot of slowdowns and talk of problems today/night, or is this happening for a while?

Apart from today, which hasn't been too bad, I've been very impressed with the speed of the game, don't know if is all polished now compared to release, but it feels well made and promises to get even better.

You'll be boosted to level 80 if you attempt the new content for this weekend only

It was a lag fest last night, but playable (for me) when I dropped some settings down from ultra and turned off shadows. Bit annoying that one of the steps in the event chain was bugged but I just had some sweet WvW fun instead

I think you can have all professions, but only 2 active at any one time. Not sure how you switch between active/inactive though.

Completed part of fractal last night, it was fun a real challenge. The swamp one we found impossible so switched out to do the Dredge one, real laugh and eventually got through it 4 man when we got rid of the terribad warrior in the group. The last boss was a pain, about a hour and half long fight including the revives :p

I still enjoy world stuff over dungeons though so I'm looking forward to the new zone opening up :)
