I'm on a Phenom II 955 and even on all low at 1080p I get like 10-20 fps when there's lots of people. I have an ATI 5830 and my friend with an i5 2300 and a ATI 5570 has better fps than me at low. When I goto medium my fps doesn't drop much compared to low, so I'm thinking the graphics card isn't being stressed enough, and the CPU just isn't coping?

I upgraded from 955+5850 to i53570k+7950, difference was night and day. I need to use a frame rate limiter now to stop frames going into the 160-170's on High settings. Lowest FPS I have seen is 58fps and that is rare.

This.

I did the same upgraded from a 955 to a i5, i decided to keep my 5770 though as i think its still holds its own in today's generation.

You could try and sale the 955 and put it towards a intel CPU. I sold my 955 for around 40-50 quid on ebay a few months back.

GW2 loves CPU's with a bit of power, so if you want some performance increases i would look at upgrading the CPU first.
 
If anyone has a spare invite to send out, I'd appreciate being given one via trust - want to check the game out but with other things I've got going on am reluctant to buy it without trying it as it may now draw me in enough.
 
So I just got my Elementalist to lvl80 and I'm trying to decide what to do next.
I spend most of my time solo, so which do you think would be the most fun:

Cant really give you a divinitive answer, but i know my engineer can stand up to far more than my warrior. With so many turrets and push back skills nothing touches me.
 
well I really enjoyed tonights event, bit slow getting off the mark and the lag was heavy for the 1st 30 odd minutes but settled down nicely and exploring the Island was good fun.

Bring on tomorrow :)
 
Agree.

The event was amazing, really enjoyed how it panned out. Only issue it has created is that there is no one anywhere else in the world :p Orr was deserted and so, impossible last night :p
 
very laggy, even with setting turned right down, but after a bit teh lag stops. Personally, I've been loving how ANet has gone about the new content and I wish other MMO companies followed suit.

Its been the best content launch stuff I can remember outside the Gates of AQ from vanilla WoW
 
So how do I actually get to the lost shores? I just want to join in on the big boss fight, is that this evening? I am only level 29 Ranger, can I still join it?
 
I've re-rolled as an Asura Warrior. Wasted my time levelling a ranger to 80. Just tried my warrior scaled to 80 and it deals much more dps than my ranger did with exotic gear lol. Way to go anet for making balanced classes.
