Guild Wars 2

All I can say is, with the chances of getting Beta entry being slim-to-none (and who really cares about an MMO Beta test anyway, I think we all need to keep some perspective...) - that I really hope that designated "March-April" dates implies a proper release in May :P

Urgh, does that mean they're connecting PvP to PvE again? It was bad enough when they had the HoH deciding which region had access to FoW/UW but at least there was a strong possibility your region would have access at peak times. If they're going to include constant buffs things are going to get retarded again.

I agree this was annoying, Saturday night our guild used to gather for our weekly night yet found no favour. They changed this though, it was based around people maxing titles would gain 5 minutes of favour everyone.

They had 1,000,000 beta sign ups, which is a pretty staggering figure. Iv gone from optimistic of getting in to pretty much assuming I wont get in. I very much doubt they will even allow many more then 10,000 testers.

I saw somewhere they want 50,000 beta testers for the first event.

Which gives everyone just under 5% chance of getting in the first event.

Eventually yeah.

Theres no point judging your chances of getting in. They made you submit hardware specs and whether you played GW and whether you play PvE/PvP or both.

Obviously they'll be wanting a spread of specs and experiences from people familiar with GW and not and I've heard they were planning on trying out WvW so chances are people who favour PvE might not have as much chance of getting in.

I hate having any requirements based on other players to do PVE content, including the current one in GW thats based on people maxing out their titles for favor.

If people group up, they should be able to play whatever content they want, no obstacles beyond getting to the area where the quest is at.

Would you not just be better playing rpg's? :p

Single player RPGs have been in decline since the MMO market became so popular, other that TW2 and Skyrim, there arent any other games in the gernre I enjoy, and none whatsoever as good as GW and DDO (well, maybe a few indie RPGs like Cthulhu Saves the World too).

I even find Maple Story to be many times more enjoyable and addictive than Skyrim, and I would actually be happy with an entirely single player version of any of the MMOs / Online RPGs that I play, but no such games exist.

Some of you guys are thinking about WvW the wrong way. Mythic's Dark Age of Camelot explored the idea of "Realm versus Realm" gameplay when it was released over a decade ago. DAoC is argued by many to be the BEST PvP of any MMORPG ever released. You don't need to worry about mixing PvE and PvP together, it DOES work provided it's done RIGHT. It's been proven. Arenanet know this and have tried to copy the system thoroughly. Many of their team both played and enjoyed the game, which was released prior to GW1.

Just give it a try.

WvW is going to be what me and my small group are going to be doing the most, We love the thrill of trying to take on bigger groups with sneeky tactics :D

Actually the issue with mixing PVP and PVE stems from GW1, in which up balance fixes to either format has always had a negative impact on the other. Arenanet very evidently have a terrible skill balancing team, and havnt ever been able to adjust or balance either format without there being a negavtive impact on the other.

Oh, and sneaky tactics are going to be awesome on WvWvW with those invisibiliy spells that mesmers have :D

I remember when Urgoz and Deep came out. The only people who could get in were people who owned each major outpost. Stupid way of controlling PvE areas using PvP. Thank god scrolls exist now.

Urgoz and Deep were controlled by the alliance who owned each sides capital and that was pretty much dictated by which side did the most faction farming, which I think was originally running a quest before it eventually became 600/smite HM clearances. PvP methods of gaining faction were horrifically slow and only done if you did enjoy Alliance Battles.

Do people still play this? I'm still tempted to re-install from time to time and give it another go, I used to play a lot back before they started messing about with HoH (I got to rank 8, never got my tiger though) but last time I re-installed it I had forgotten pretty much everything and found it a bit depressing so only played for a day or so before uninstalling again.

I'm guessing you mean Guild Wars 1? As Guild Wars 2 isn't available yet.

Got my last point on the guild wars calculator last night! :D
