Guild Wars Questions

80!!!!!

I reinstalled this a few weeks back to build up some HoM achievements.. Its still a great game after all these years and i think it still looks great.
I use PvXwiki for most of my PvP and Hero builds.

My 80 minions + MoP says otherwise :D

You cant make that many minions in a lot of areas of the game though as there arent enough corpses, and they are pretty weak and would die fast.

Also, Panic, Ineptitude, and two spirit spammers (Signet of Spirits and Signet of Ghostly might) would be a lot better than 8 minion masters.

I cant, or you cant ;)

When running threw Ferndale there are 300+ enemies, and when doing the VQ in 30 mins with 8 MM's its very easy to maintain 10 minions each, but its just for fun,

I agree that Mesmers are pushing forward in HM areas esp DoASC

Yea I never advised not to do them in order? I just said to do the tutorial part on Nightfall to grab the heroes and the first 10 minutes of Eotn.

You can see the basic builds I posted in my screenshot above. While they arent as good as the henchmen builds, they at least get you started with learning how to create builds and setting a team up. Its very easy to ask other players for advice on what kinds of builds to run too.

The basic skills are what prophecies on NM was intended to be played with, and they are perfectly capable to get through the game.

You get a handful of skills given to you for free for every hero class, enough to make a basic build for each one.

You can also get free hero skills with hero skill points, which are easy to get and spend right at the start of NF and EOTN without going any further onto the mainland:

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hero_skill_point

Spending hero skill points is also completely free.

Well yes but again, they require you to play them to get the hero skill points. And you won't be getting the 'basic' ones that even henchman get, you'll be getting half a very bad bar with no other skills. Henchman have improved (they improved their bars yes but at the end of the day they're still using un-runed, basic gear and there skills are nothing special) but not so much that they would suddenly make the game a walk in the park over simply using heroes with basic bars.
If all the OP wants to do is get on with playing them I don't see why he needs to do anything other than just follow the story of each campaign through to completion. If he doesn't feel like creating a new character at the start of each campaign then so be it, though he'd lose the backstory and a lot of free skills and experience with a new profession.

Asking people in game may prove rather pointless (over simply asking here where people will have more patience). Most likely you'll get 10 people respond with only 2 different builds, all of which require skills he won't have. The only way to really learn how useful skills can be is to have experience with that class. The wiki is a good place to look up elites.

Rit and Mes heroes > Necros :p

The usefulness of necro heroes stops at 3.

Isn't Discord still completely broken?

Whenever i hear someone say they use PvX wiki for builds i can't help but /facepalm...

When was discord ever broken? I've seen people clearing DoA wth 3 discord necs, panic and ritualists.

I never got the Discord build or any other from PVXwiki, It simply made more sense for me to run it alongside hex + condition heavy builds t add some strong spike damage on top of a huge triple necro and dual mesmer hexway.

And that somehow means its not broken?

No it means other classes are underpowered.

The discord alone doesnt kill anything, it adds extra damage and pressure on top of the hexes. If you simply took nothing but discord, you wouldnt get anywhere without the mesmers, and direct damage and protection would be lacking without ritualists.

Player teams in DoA run nothing but DWG these days, because whatever is the most efficient and gets stuff done quicker is what will be preffered. I'd rather complete DoA in 2-3 hours rather than in 5 hours. Also you actually need a build that can complete it without getting completely raped.

Elite content takes far too long to complete in GW without gimmick builds, I really hope that this is something they will change in the second game.

Guild Wars is a horribly imbalanced game, and it always has been.

Whats wrong with PvX wiki? i know some of the builds are outdated.:D

It lacks thinking for yourself and experimenting with the skills, thats what.

And its simply a shortcut / easy way for every newbie to play as good as I do after 6 years /elitist hat on.

Of course its overpowered, mostly because ANet completely stopped caring. Its a single skill that supplies massive damage for next to no energy, cast time or recharge. Arguing that its not overpowered because it wouldn't work if thats all you took is stupid. Mesmers were pretty poor in PvE, then they started slapping AoE skills more powerful than Elementalists had on them and its armour ignoring, so did about 2-4x the damage.

And its hardly a surprise now that UWSC was nerfed. I stopped giving a toss long ago what the self proclaimed elite farmers used because more often than not, its fast, but boring as sin.

*sigh* Make your own builds... its not hard and it makes the game considerably more interesting.

Well yea, Discord is still weaker than what mesmers and rits can do though, but all three of those classes are overpowered while my elly is simply digging its own grave :(

I dunno, i still have good fun with Thunderclap/Fevered Dreams. Though yeah... as an actual damage dealer in late game its pretty sub-par. Still, its not something anyone needs to worry about till they're fighting lvl24-28 enemies in HM.

eles got nuked bigtime :(

i only go on for bday pressies now which is a shame. might do some armour hunting soon

Pressies only here too. Raked in loads from selling them. This month I'm expecting 4 5th years. :) Next month, a 6th year. :)

They didn't get nuked, just neglected. They were never really the best choice for elite areas in the first place thanks to the very punishing armour/level effect on damage. SS Necros were far more valuable even in Prophecies.

I always loved it when teams couldn't defeat the Mursaat Monk bosses because eles caused about 20 damage with high powered spells. Nobody ever learned the power of interrupts in PvE... a single distracting shot and it was all over. Eles final nail really was when they gave Mesmers CoP and RoJ became more powerful than half an ele bar.

You know that the 6th year is no longer a present its an ever lasting tonic, there was 30 new tonics made for the 6th year, there price ranges from 60-600 ecto

Whats new... they always are valuable just after the first people get there birthdays. They'll go down in time.
