If this is you're first run through the game then I advise you to complete prophecies first without worrying about the other campaigns and what benefits they can bring you.
Reason being, the first play through is always so rich and dense since you're discovering GW, I wouldn't spoil that and the challenge of the prophecies campaign by taking the easy way out and getting hero's from the other campaign.
Trust me, once you've played the game as much as someone like me has then you will have the time/opportunity to take every shortcut possible when making a new character and boosting them into a strong position.

Holy thread revival batman!

I didn't want to post in the GW2 thread about this game so just 2 quick questions.

It says there are 10 characters available but for some reason I only got a choice of 5 or 6 any reason why this might be?

Also if I complete one campaign with a character I am assuming I can use the same character in the next campaign?

I presume you have only picked up first campaign Prophecies . Factions gives you the standard 6 classes plus Assassin and Ritualist and Nightfall Paragon and Dervish.

And yes once a campaign is complete you can take that character to all of them including the expansion Eye of the north.

Logged into the game once then logged out. Since then my exact same login details no longer work :confused:

Opened a ticket with them but hardly an auspicious start to GW life

Did you create a character on the account?

You need to add at least the name of one of your characters on the login screen.

Yeah I just realised that. It was only a test character though so I do not have a clue what the name was, I just bashed in the first random name that came into my head and didn't think to write it down. I have no idea what it is, especially as its a first and second name.

Is there any way for me to find out what it is?

No.

It's a ticket job, and they'll want loads of details to prove you own the account.

Name, Address, CD key etc.

Suppose it's my own fault for not knowing the character name but they could have made it a little more clear for me. Are they fast on the uptake with tickets as I was hoping to have a mes about on it tonight?

Just as I was thinking about trying GW again (after half a decade or so

) this thread pops up! I was going to take this as a good omen until I read the last posts about the fact that (if I got this right) you need to remember your character name. Needless to say I don't...

Assuming I get this to work, what's a good profession to start afresh? I didn't really get into the game last time round, but I remember the skill system being quite cool. I'd like to play something that's as different from the usual fantasy fare as possible (you know, warriors that do bleed attacks and mages that throw fireballs). Grateful for any tips/suggestions.

If you are thinking about it get a ticket submitted sooner rather than later.

Not sure what time zone they are operating on but I submitted a ticket 3 hours ago and not even a confirmation

had a few free hours this evening and was really looking forward to giving it a go.

Yeah, I figured this isn't going to happen in real time. Also I don't know if I still have the CD key

Maybe I get this sorted by the weekend... Good luck with your ticket!

Haven't read everything, but make sure you go to American - English district. That's where everyone goes, all the others are mostly dead.

you can switch servers at any time on the fly so nothing to worry about.

The supressionof names is ridiculous.
They have skills which state that they 'exploit a corpse' but if you say that in your name it's a ban...same with if you make a joke about BiP or Blood ritual.

One guy I knew got banned for divine jesus. Apparently the name Jesus can be offensive to people!

Well had a few replies to the ticket answered all their questions and... "they are escalating it to senior guild wars staff tp resolve the issue"

Honestly such a bloody hassle, bought the game yesterday and still not able to play. My fault for forgetting the character name but not telling me pre-login that you needed to know your character name for next time is a bit of a school boy error :rolleyes:

Might be able to play this by next week

I thought that my PVP funneh name was a perfect work around the rules:

We do not permit names that:

Have offensive racial, ethnic, or national connotations.
Reference sexual acts or real life violence.
Are pornographic.
Make inappropriate references to human anatomy or bodily functions.
Reference illegal drugs or activities.
Reference major religious figures.
Reference certain real-life people that may cause distress (e.g. Hitler).

Anet have no humor, next my PVE Mesmer 'D Is For Lysdexia' will prolly be banned.

Fortunately they only give temp bans for anything that isnt hacking / botting / gold selling, so I just /delete the PVP characeter, remake it, and dont use it until my naughty timer resets

When you log in theres a BIG BANNER accross your character screen which says to remember a character name. A-net did tell you but you blanked it.

Or you could do what I do, when you create a toon, save a screen shot. Not only will it tell you when that toons birthday is, but it'll also tell you what you called the toon (as the party window with your toons name is always active).

think i might login to this tonight and see what i got.....been a long time. think i have 4 characters in total , completed GW and factions and half way through nightfall and did a fair bit of EOTN.

love Guildwars - great game.

It's actually a tiny little few words saying "security question" then in brackets "character name" I logged in first time without, obviously I didn't have a character, but having not "made" a security question which is something you normally are prompted about with games/sign ins I didn't think it was applicable unless you wanted it.

In future I will just save character names in a notepad doc on the desktop.

Another annoying aspect is the customer service is garbage, 24 hours and still not much/if any further forward :rolleyes:

only so annoyed because I really do want to see what the game is like and I am busy from Thursday solid through until next Wednesday then back to work the following Monday. Put some effort in NcSoft
