Guild Wars Questions

I do suggest reading the other posts in this thread. A lot of which deal with a person new to the game and offer a lot of helpful advice. Most new players start with Warrior, but is usually better if you chose a profession that suits your play style.

Warrior, well armoured melee, good first choice.
Ranger, ranged physical damage, use pets, have high armour vs elemental damage.
Elementalist, the high damage class, not so useful in Hard Mode unless you run specific builds
Necromancer, user of corpses, uses hexes and conditions, AI plays these well, no energy problems (usually)
Mesmer, can be tricky to play but if your reactions are good, are almost godly, recently buffed.
Monk, your generic healing class.
Assassin, teleporting (usually) high single target melee damage. Quite vulnerable.
Ritualist, uses spirits, can play as healer or damage.
Paragon, another ranged physical, over due for a buff, mainly used for party support.
Dervishes, another melee type uses enchantmants to increase damage to multiple targets.

There is a large well maintained wiki for the game which you can access, by typing /wiki in game or pressing F10.

Installed game ect, go to load up and says I need to install another 8000 files. Now this is downloading at like 15kbs... Is there any other way to download this?

Edit: Router reset it self now running at 100Kbps. Only been installing since 17:00....

I am also curios for this I have re activated my account and downloaded the client but no longer have the disks so when I log in I have to download a huge amount. Can this be done another way?

8,000 files Sounds about right. :)

Can download from another location, move files on a 8GB USB, bob's your uncle. Guild Wars doesn't need an installer BTW.

Rits probably easiest, but imo boring (SOS spirit spammers, and that kurzick spirit teleport skill).

Mesmer the most interesting, but hard to play. Usually for experienced players. Heroes make great mesmer interrupters.

Eles easy for starters and versatile. Pretty straight forward point and shoot class. Fun combos with snares and AoEs.

Assasins have poor survival rate especially beginners, but fun class. Works with combos and good heal target for a prot monk (Love playing with a decent assassin :)).

Rangers are relatively and quite fun. Can interrupt, use pets, damage, degens.

Monks are set apart really. Purely team support class, but rewarding and essential to a team. You rely on hench and heroes to take care of business, so not a favorite to start with.

Warriors good starter class. Does what you expect, melee, and tanking. Can take punishment and dish some out too.

Well all sorted started a Mesmer. Most people seem to think there hard to play as a 'newbie' so why, not just deciding on the secondary, started the quest for Necro but internet stopped so didn't bother carrying on. Is this a good choice?

I have been Playing this tpray and forgot how much I love it. I started a new rig again to get the feeling of the game again. I have also just got eotn so look forward to playing through that. If anyone wants to add me intake I am deathwalker threk or my steam name is manicmike84 or kruxxie.

There is so much to do for a free game and the amount that has been added since I stopped is awesome. My first character is 4 months from being 6 years old :0

Mesmers are good fun, bit hard to play early on they don't do as much damage and are soft targets. But they have great uses. Energy spikes, interrupts and shutdowns, fast casting air eles, ... Loads of fun builds.

Give us a call if you need some help (Iron Monkay).

Anyone playing this from scratch ?

Just picked up the trilogy and eotn, will be trying to get 30 points for hall of monuments but being new that might take me forever :)

Is a necro/monk a good char for pve ?

I wouldnt mind play this again from scratch with some one its meant to be awesome in 3d so i wanna give it a try :)

I started this as I bought the trilogy as well. Didn't like playing solo so stopped about level 2 just got my second soul/skills. Wouldn't mind going starting again.

I started a toon again level 4 dervish u can now have 7 hero slots so looking forward to coming up with builds.

Any one know any good builds for dervish tanking and damage.

I need to get some plat together to buy some elite armor, I stupidly gave away all my rare pets and plat a few years ago.

Does anyone have any tips on a good place to farm, I tried the "halcyon job" assassin farm a while back with little return and I think I'm to rusty to farm the UW.

Is it worth farming trade contracts and exchanging them for gems?

Edit: My chars are monk,ele,ranger,Rt,War

I made a char for pre searing to try get him to 20 for the title, looks like I will be doing a lot of north wall runs to get to 10 for daily quest. If anyone is doing the same let me know if you need any help, made a Monk/Ele lvl 9 atm.
