Guilty Confessions: What game did you not finish?

Burnout paradise - Got within 10 races of my elite license, stopped when GTA 4 came out

GTA 4 - Got within 6 missions from the end. I got stuck on one mission. A few months later I went back to it, completed that mission straight away, however I had forgotten so much about the game (island layouts, etc) that I had no drive to actually finish the last 5 missions

GTA:SA Got to the last mission. Failed to rescue the guy off the back of the fire truck. Really couldnt be bothered to go through the huge mission again.

I got really into Mass Effect 2 during half-term week at the end of May and Dragon Age over the two-week Easter break in April, but I stopped playing each of them because of other games and haven't gone back since, despite how awesome they both are.

Dragon Age here as well, really want to finish the game but i spent so much time doing all the origin stories when i finally started playing the main story i had dumped so much time into the game already i started playing something else for a bit and still havnt got my self back into it

BF2 never got te gold armour badge 200hrs out of 400hrs, don't make awards like they used to and the purple heart which im quite chuffed off not getting. I guess i never finished that game lol

Mass Effect 1 - loved every minute, got to the final boss battle, and just couldn't be *****, it just seemed such a cop out after such a fantastic game.

Another Bioshock 2 non-completer here. Just didn't have the wow factor of the first one and I got bored really quickly.

Other games:
Far Cry 2 - got repetitive after a while
Dead Space
Metro 2033 - got stuck in one section and never went back to it.
Red Faction Guerilla

Not completed Crysis, Stalker CS, Stalker CoP but I plan to complete those.

Crysis

The only reason i've not finished this is because for some weird reason it constantly crashes on the aircraft carrier section, the rest of the game was and is fine it's just this section

That happened to me as well but I reverted back to an earlier save and it worked fine after that.

I have a few newish games on my shelf that I haven't go into yet (DAO and Metro) but Far Cry 2 would be the one for me. I even own the big collector's edition and what an utter disappointment the game is. I got to the second map and it's just a grind worse than an MMO.

Drive across a vast map point to point for silly pointless missions and repetitive re-spawning enemies shooting at you over and over :(

That's your problem right there.

Never more than 2-3 round bursts :p

Plus once you get a half decent gun it's much easier.

That's the thing though, I was firing 2-3 round bursts, but after lots of 2-3 round bursts you've emptied several magazines and the guy 20 feet in front of you isn't dead. The rpg(ness) of the weapon accuracy was just appaling.

I really rather enjoyed The Witcher, but for some reason I never completed it - and now I've lost my saves, I can't bring myself to catch up to the 4 zillion hours I'd put in!

God, so many I'm ashamed, really. Off the top of my head, there's Assassin's Creed 2, The Witcher, Oblivion and Fallout 3 (I played them both a hell of a lot, I just never finished the stories), Neverwinter Nights, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, Jade Empire, Ghost Master, Black & White. Hell, it would probably be easier to list the games I have finished than those I haven't :(

My main problem is I'll play a game maybe 75% of the way through, then I'll buy another one and play that, then buy another....

I think I lack willpower.

I won't mention anything I've given up out of some dislike, but there are still a few games I've liked and just not gotten around to finishing:

Best example is Dawn of War 2. I played for 10 hours straight, loved every minute of it, but have never went back to it. That was a year ago.

Batman: Arkham Asylum. Played through even the bits I didn't like only to stop before what I assume is the 'final fight.'

Sacred 2. Think I'd put in about 15 hours, then just never went back.

Fallout 3. Gave up about an hour out of the Vault. Went back for the first DLC. Haven't been back since.

Mirror's Edge. Got to a point where I just couldn't make a certain jump. Gave up, haven't been back.

Dead Space. Enjoying the heck out of it, just haven't got back to it.

I also have Riddick, Section 8 & Empire: Total War that I haven't even installed

I think it's Oblivion for me. I love the game, love configuring mods, love playing a character, and somehow never finish.

It isn't even possible to 'finish' Oblivion per se :p Only really the main quest, the side quests and everything else would keep you going for months, without including DLC and mods!

I'd recommend you do complete the main quest sometime, some of the best fights / dungeons are to be found in the main quest.

My guilty ones range from Bioshock to GRID and Timeshift, Total War: Alexander, SWAT 4, and others. I just find I tend to sink loads of time into a game I really enjoy, like Oblivion, or Rome:Total War.

Oblivion

Finished the thieves' and assassin's guild chains but only ever closed one oblivion gate. Must have played that game for about 60 hours before even going to see the monk for the first part of the story missions.

I will always recommend it to other people even though I have no idea how good the story is.

Lol, I've spent many, many hours on Oblivion and only ever completed it once, i normally play the primary quest very little, at most up until the 'Hand over a Daedric artifact' quest where i stop dead because theres no way in hell i'm handing over my Azure Star. Come to think of i only finished the storyline to Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles once too...

Excluding the party and fighting games, I have

Most of games are ones Ive rented, played and brought 2nd hard or on sale at a later date.

Stalker - SOC. The difficulty just seemed to ramp up way too much at the end, leaving me with empty guns and lots of enemies.
Sacred 2 - just too much to do in-game - i did a fair chunk, but never got to see the credits :(
SWAT4 - loads of MP fun, but never got past the penultimate level. Not sure why now.

Just remembered, Rainbow 6 on the ps i just couldn't get pass the level were you had sneak in to the penthouse. Re played the game so many times but never could get past that part.
