Is the issue that you remapped the car to get extra power without uprating the clutch to handle the extra power? Remove the map, replace the clutch with a stock Vaux unit and problem solved?

Removing the map will surely result in a fair amount of wasted money. Getting an uprated clutch may cost a bit more, but then you get to make use of the map properly.

I'm quite suprised your having a hard time finding someone to replace the clutch?

Are there not off the shelf uprated clutches for these cars?

Its not like your changing a flux capicitor now is it!

Hope you get it sorted.

To be fair, every other person in that thread has lolled and said that the Astra VXR would struggle to keep up, let alone the Corsa.

Just registered at pug306.net to view the thread

heres a quick quote at the end of the thread

right when i removed my CG paddle clutch today after 12 months and about 6000 miles , much to my supprise there is nothing wrong with it and if andthing the flywheel is smother than when i fitted it

also found a few others reporting no problems as well. The local indy said they've used CG before and had no problems, so they might be allright.

No

Rang courtenay and they say that out of all the remapped vectras they've done, none of them have come back to them reporting clutch problems and asking for an uprated clutch. Thus they dont offer one as they dont feel its needed.

Autovaux do have on record that LUK are wanting to produce one, but its not available on the market yet for the next 6 weeks so not much use to me without a car.

MidPointGarage do offer one, but quote a fitted price of £800. Might be worth asking them how much the part is alone as they are the only one of the established vauxhall tuners offering one at the minute.

I guess you drive from day to day exactly how you drive at RR days then if you are the only remapped VXR owner to have killed a clutch in such little time

I think mines on its way too, booting it in 2nd I get revs but not movement to match, I'm pretty sure its not wheel spin though. 3rd onwards are fine though.

i dont really think the costs are to bad but hey......

last time i bought some tyres 240/45/17/W they were only costing me about £102 a corner what the hells on the vectra??

try a subaru legacy turbo deisel they are good sheeps in wolf clothing and
cheap probally got more power as well for 55mpg+ but dont tell the the other half

Its my first performance car i did confess ive been driving it hard.

Novelty has worn off now, but obviously the damage has already been done.

Oh year your right

They were 245/45/17 falken 912's absolutely horrible in the winter snow = no go

Ah I see where your price comes from 35 profile british roads must be a nightmare on those...

Subarus standard 2.0Td R only have 150 bhp standard but they tune with a map insanley like the rest of the subaru ranges, oh and the best part 350 ft/lb as standard. Admittedly the vxr is gonna have more bhp, I was remebering the spec B legacy stats when I replied earlier.

What about saving loads of money and gettign a 2002 subaru legacy B4 estate or saloon 280bhp and 345ft/lb standard spec there about £4k for a top of the range one now (petrol).
Plus there only £165 tax and parts are mega cheap as they share the running gear with many imprezas.
I have an old 1996 legacy gtb auto running 380bhp (auto max the standard gearbox will take) and I cant even map it, but the 2000+ legacy B4's you can map for quick increase in power.

May yet "downgrade" to 18s

Improves the ride and gets me cheaper tyres. Wont be doing it till the current set of tyres is well worn in though. Fronts only have a few hundread miles on them and tread depth was 7mm at the MOT.

18s arent that much cheaper - mine are 225/40/R18 and they're pretty expensive - would 17s look compeltely rubbish?
