Guy got arrested for making racist comments on twitter about Muamba

Thought it was only Muslims who got arrested for spouting **** on social network sites.

First it was the muslims and I didn't speak up.
Then it was Welshman and I didn't speak up.
etc.

Pretty soon we'll all be doing time for offending somebody online.

56 days for using the N word? This is a new level of the suppression of free speech in this country. Big Brother will determine what you are allowed to say. Thought crime will be next.

You don't have to agree with what he said but if you support a prison sentence for this, you are a braindead sheep who cannot see how dangerous this is.

Indeed, what next?

I dont get the disagreement, the guy used racist slurs against someone in public (basically), why isnt this a crime? Its nothing to do with free speech. I dont agree with banging him up, its very heavy handed - but then it was never a fair trial was it.

What you mean to say is he shouldn't of made those comments and now he's paying the consequences?

In my opinion, he shouldn't have been put to prison for what was essentially, a non-violent crime. He'll probably receive some serious abuse in prison for being painted a racist. I'm absolutely not condoning what he did, he was definitely in the wrong and should be punished, but I don't think prison is the answer in this case.

I wouldn't mind knowing what was said to Mr Stacey to cause his choice of inappropriate language in his reply?

I wouldn't have thought somebody would have said "leave it out mate" and he would have replied with "**** ***!"

** Please fully star out your swearing **

...although I could be wrong...

I find these cases hard to decide on myself. I have heard so much crap coming out of people mouths in public that is much worse than what this guy says and yet they are never punished. Twitter is fast becoming very PC.

56 days for that, yet we have people that kill someone in a car walking free with community service, we also have hate preachers stirring up trouble and they get to walk the streets. Wonder if that lad in Dewsbury will he get jail time for insults to parents of dead soldiers.

Whilst I think that you should be held accountable for the things you type on the internet, I don't really see this case as being a jail-worthy offence.

It's just words at the end of the day, sticks and stones etc, seems like a lot of fuss over not a lot.
