Halal, is it meat you're looking for?

I think the main problem here is, Muslims want Britain to conform to their religious beliefs and cultures but when the shoe is on the other foot Muslims don't want to conform to our Religious beliefs and culture. Most recently the big fuss about shops being closed on Christmas Day. If you are all that desperate for a loaf I'm sure there are plenty of Muslim corner shops open.

Trust me no Muslim cares if shops are closed or open on Christmas day.

There's people out there spreading ****, then there's idiots respouting it with there moral high horse. My own business is only closed on one day a year and thats Christmas day. We open on Eid as usual.

My local asian corner shop is always open as usual on Xmas day 6am-10pm like any other day, complete with Xmas Eve newspapers still for sale. :p

Mine too :D

usually a laugh in there, last time some drunk girls were complaining the guy behind the counter had no banter so I made the comment hes not trying to groom you because your to fat :D

I've just read the last 50 or so posts - The bit I just can't understand over all this is that people take it all so seriously.

I happen to believe in the pink elephant that lives behind the skirting board, he says that it's ok to eat bacon sandwiches as long as the pig gave permission by oinking at least once a day.

I find it disgusting that supermarkets don't label meat as 'lalah' indicating that the pig gave permission.

Now - hands up anyone still taking me seriously ? What, no one ?

How many people need to agree with me before it constitutes a genuine religion ?

Seriously, dead people coming back to life, people riding white horses to heaven, just listen to yourselves.

Just because other people indulge in the same delusion doesn't mean that it has any credibility at all - just read the following as an example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_cult

Its not suppose to be. For me personally is that Halal is usually the poorest and cheapest meat you can get. Thats why schools and restaurants latched on to it so much. To save costs. Them saying that it's to be inclusive was a bonus. Halal chicken is probably the crappiest chicken you can get.

Good. Hope its clearly labelled and I hope people purposefully avoid it.

Then again, with over 5% of the population in England now Muslim, there obviously is a market...

Indeed it does. The whole point of the Halal and Kosher methods of slaughter is that the animal is clueless as to what fate is about to befall it and is then quickly and cleanly despatched with a single stroke of a razor-sharp knife.

In the interests of balance, non-Halal and non-Kosher abattoirs are regularly pulled up for breeches of FSA practice.

Can't remember the last time I read about a Kosher one making the news for malpractice though.

I utterly oppose Halal meat in the UK, however that Guardian article is bizarre. How do you threaten a sheep with a knife? You could threat it with a lemon and it would be no more or less scared.

Malpractice exists in every man made section of human life. It's anger inducing but sadly those people will always exist :/

Well they brandished knives in an aggressive manner ready to hack up the animal. If that's not threatening I don't know what is? I can't recall the last time someone threatened an animal with a lemon.

There's a big difference between a quick clean kill and making the process and aggravated and slow/painful process for the animal.

My point is that sheep cannot be threatened, at least in human terms. Waving a knife at a sheep is no more going to intimidate it than waving anything else at it. You could be threatening to hug it, and the reaction would more or less be the same.

I absolutely agree. But that has nothing to do with the point I made.
