Halal, is it meat you're looking for?

Halal meat should only be allowed if the animal is stunned first in my opinion.

It disgusts and enrages me to think that animals are allowed to be killed with a "Razor Sharp Knife" whilst fully concious. Religion should NEVER come before animal welfare.
 
Most of the points in that article have nothing to do with it being a Halal abattoir, rather the slaughterers being *****, which religion has nothing to do with...

The number of animals that go into boiling water or are butchered/skinned still alive after standard slanghtering is probably something we need to look into first. Or even better, the general state of animal welfare in this country. It's better than most but the way we farm and slaughter animals in many, many cases makes the pain in the final few seconds of their life pretty minor.

I'd much rather be wandering around in a field, relaxed, and have my throat slit and die in a few seconds than rammed into a barn for my entire life, herded into a cramped lorry, transports miles and then forced into a narrow passageway with hundreds of others hearing (essentially) screaming in front of me as I make my way to a person with a stun gun...
 
I have always been of the opinion that any person who kills animals for a living cannot possibly be a person who can have feelings for an animal.

You cannot kill animals all day then go home and love your dog.

I think they have a mental problem as virtually every well known killer has a history of abusing animals at first, in fact it's highly unusual for a serial killer not to have a history of animal abuse.

So you're saying everyone who works in an abattoir has a mental problem and abuses animals??

Not usually as you only encounter Kosher meat in the Kosher isle of the supermarket or in Kosher butchers and delis.

On the other hand, a large amount of chicken products on sale in the UK are now Halal by default.
 
exactly, in the past they had their own section in supermarkets, now most chicken is Halal. What makes them so special? I demand the right to avoid buying Halal meat. i had to research to know which supermarkets do and don't, and it seems like waitrose and M&S are the only ones that don't any at all. In normal supermarkets you can also avoid it by buying organic and cornfed chicken. but normal chicken is Halal
