Half life 1 quid and change on steam

awesome bargain.

reminded me of black mesa source, damn thats been in the pipeline for a loooong time now. i wonder if they are anywhere near completing it :/

i have half life but i might buy it again, saves me finding the CD! :D

Well there was a new media release in the past few days, loads of screenshots of the chapters, so they must be getting close. It's been imported into Orange box source engine too.

well that is good news! cant wait to finally get my hands on it, heres hoping my laptop will play it. got rid of my rig about 6 months ago :( :(

Am i the only guy that liked Xen? :D

Nah, I liked it actually.

One of the first games with 'zero' mavity in it I played probably.

Bought, shame it's not Hlaf Life Source tho :(

Meh, I've got Half life source, the only difference is the water is nice and some of the textures 'shine' :p

As mentioned Black Mesa Source on the other hand....

And then once you've completed that buy the Mega Pack. $99 for this:

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/ne...ft_4_dead_and_about_a_billion_other_games_100

This isnt *quite* as good value as it seems though...

Works out as £78.80

L4D = £20
Orange box = £8 (yep!)
Half Life 1 = £0.79 (ok, so this is a special deal for this week)

so for £30 you've got...
Half Life, Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Deathmatch, Half Life 2: Episode One, Half Life 2: Episode Two, Half Life 2 Lost coast, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2

I'm assuming its still legal to download Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress Classic for free so that means for the other £50 (78.00 - 30) you only get: Condition Zero, Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat Source, Deathmatch Classic (free anyway?), Half Life Blue Shift, Half Life Opposing Force, Half Life: Source, Peggle Extreme, Richochet

Now to me, those aren't really worth £50 and I'm sure there are some cheap packs on steam already which can probably get them for cheap anyway!

Isn't Peggle extreme free? Or is there suddenly a fully fledged 50 level game of it or something.

The system requirements from Steam:

Minimum: 500 mhz processor, 96mb ram, 16mb video card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: 800 mhz processor, 128mb ram, 32mb+ video card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
I know the original Half Life (non Steam) even had a software rendering option.

I'd be amazed if it didn't work, and work perfectly but worst case scenario you've lost less than £1 to find out :)

Good point - and the demo is great in its own right and features a level not in the full game, if you haven't played it before.

I played it ages ago...I think I completed it....can't remember now.

Still, good for him to try either way :)
