Half life 1 quid and change on steam

It's not really though - a loss leader is something sold at or below cost. Half Life has already made a phenomenal profit. - even it was now given away free, it still couldn't be a loss leader, because the cost is nothing! The only costs incurred might be negligible ones via steam distribution, but that might equate to a few pence per download.

Did you hit the wrong quote button or something?

You started with "It's not really though..." and then proceeded to agree with everything Platypus said.

Aye, which is why its not a loss leader in the traditional sense. It's something they can afford to write off for £1 though.

your all forgeting the millions upon millions they made on hl1 back in the day. hl for a £1 is like a free lunch for them! They havent done anything, we all bought it so they made like $50 from all of OCUK for doing zero work. :P

No we're not, which is why I said they can afford to write it off for £whatever, because they've made much more profit then they ever expected.

I lost my CD key about 3 years ago so I had to buy another game. I remember only paying 5 quid for it from a shop. Seems like a really good deal now if the game is still 10 dollars to buy
