Valve had absolutely nothing to do with this
Valve had absolutely nothing to do with this
Well, apart from the letting the mod be officially on Steam which is a huge plus, as it makes installation easy, allows the developer to update easily and gives far more visibility.
So that's a huge way that Valve have contributed to the mod.
Big WOW... They eventually caved in and let them release on steam, otherwise had NOTHING to do with it
personally i would rather congratulate valve for making games rather than for allowing someone else to put a mod for a game on their store. Yes valve deserve a thanks for allowing it....... but lets be honest, valve didnt need to put much effort into it. Valve promised 3 VR games made by them when they were pushing their index headset. years on down the line we have HLA which is impressive, but still 2 titles down. It's hugely significant. It'll increase the number of users installing the mod massively.
Also you underestimate how great it is that Valve allows and supports modding.
Many publishers and developers don't and mods often get shut down with legal threats.
So Valve had everything you do with this mod being at all possible (apart from creating HL2 of course), and deserve credit for allowing the mod developers to distribute on Steam, which gives free distribution, dev tools, and a dedicated Store page.
Might even get me back into gaming, just need a GFX card and a VR headset now.
Says a lot about the gaming industry that this is the only title I'm even half bothered about.
great.game. visually getting on a bit but will be ok in VR but level design, story and mechanics top drawerGiven I never played HL2, I'm hoping I'm in for a bit of a treat.
it's a whole new hl2 game install (called Half-Life 2 VR), it's about 4GB, it doesn't touch your original HL2 install (if you have it installed, you don't need it installed u just need to own it).How big was the download? Will have to get on this tomorrow.
Does this work with hl2 Update? As in the slightly better visuals version.
yes I thought that might be the case, I'm looking into that now. The devs said a non-Dll based mod should be supportable in this VR version. It needs a texture update as they don't hold up to close inspection in VR.
I'll have to see what mods are compatible.
