Half Life 2 VR - upcoming mod

Enjoying this, feeling the same sense of presence and scale of HL Alyx.

Everything glides about so seamlessly. You were ever a fan of the game, this is next level stuff.
 
Played through now up until the gravity gun. The airboat section felt a little queasy at first - surprising as I have good VR legs - but it soon passed.

It's a very good VR port - a little clunky in places, but amazing to be able to play this in VR.

I'm loving the freedom to look around and it feels incredible to be back inside that world again with the vehicles and creatures at full scale.

One thing I have done is turned off immersive ladders as they were just annoying.
 
The airboat section isn't for those with a weak stomach for sure.
I finished "we don't go to Ravenholme" today with the gravity gun and lobbing saw blades at zombies will never ever get old :D
The gun reloads is still pretty poor, especially if one play as seated, but over all, it's absolutely superb.

I’ve seen someone post this, has a good list of additional content in it, would be interested to see if anyone tries this and their thoughts.

Seems to be getting hammered as I cant download it to give it a try.
Going through the list of mods it adds it does seem to keep within HL2's art style with the higher res textures and models which is nice to see.

just tried again this (monday) morning, no go, it's google drive poo'ing itself at 3 people downloading it in a day.
has anyone managed to download it? don't suppose you'd stick it on something like Mega and provide a download link please?

someone found a hack to get around the google drive download limit, it is:

1. With the google drive link opened, click on three dots in the upper right corner and click on "add to starred"

2. Go back to your drive and to the "starred" area

3. To work, you will need to select 2 starred items holding shift and click on download.

Can confirm, it’s allowed me to download it. No time to install and test tonight though. Had a 15 minute play in the vanilla game earlier though, the graphics are for sure dated but there’s still a lot of charm to them. Ladder climbing does in fact seem abysmal (can’t seem to consistently let me climb off the top) so will probably stick that back to basic mode. Have yet to hold a gun, wanted to update the graphics before getting sucked in to it.

But from a usability perspective, this seems really fun so far!
 
If you add these cvars to the game's launch options then the slidey movement is fixed. It makes it a lot more comfortable to play, and jumping accurately is far easier to do.

+sv_stopspeed 225 +sv_accelerate 20

just to be clear... Half Life 2 episode 1.

Personally I loved both games but i havent gone back to HL1 in years (since it launched) I do keep thinking about trying Black Mesa (HL1 remake) but will likely only do it if it gets a VR mod.
