Half the size?

Right, I've separated the 104 GB into a partition and it has come up as the C drive. That is good as i expected that, very nice. When i go to open it though it says it needs formatting so i went to format it. It gave me the option 'quick format' so i guessed that but then it said that formatting will erase all information on the disk.

Does this mean just the C Drive but or the C and E drive (since it is only one hard drive.) I think it only means the C drive as it is seeing it as a separate drive but i don't want to go ahead without confirmation.

 The new partition was created as C: & not F: ? C: should be the original partition with Windows installed. Formatting this will wipe out the OS (though it will NOT let you do that from itself).

A quick format should do & will only format the partition selected :)

Well the original hard drive is the E drive and when i created the partition i had the option of picking loads of letters and the first one was C so i picked that one, i also didn't have the option of the letter F.

So since the formatting will only format the partition C bit does that mean it won't delete all my stuff on the E drive?

Ahhh I see your origanl windows install was to drive E:

Yes you can do a quick format of the C: drive without losing your data on E:

Thanks man, this has all been so helpful. I have got this problem sorted in less than a DAY when stupid people on helplines couldn't figure it out over a month.
Thank you all for the help.
