HALO 3 Official Thread

Tried the map earlier - looks really nice but I don't really play halo any more :( First thing we tried was using the turret glitch to get out of the map - didn't work, death zone :(

Hmm, maybe its about time i buy Halo 3 now its £15. Seems worth it with all that online player and may make a good change from COD! :)

I assume this is still the most played online game? or one of them?

Shockingly i just returned to Halo 3 yesterday for the first time since i got it on launch day. I'd never played 1 or 2, so i never got the hype. So basically i was pretty unimpressed with Halo 3 when i first got it, plus other titles at the time caught my interest more.

So as i'm off work this week i thought i'll return to games i never bothered with, Halo 3 and The Orange Box. I finished Orange Box in a few days. So up came Halo 3, i had to start again as my save game file seemed knackered?

Anyway, after a day i'm already up to the 8 mission (second last i believe?) and all i can say is i regret not playing this last year! Before i never thought it looked that great but the middle and later levels look superb. The colour palette used is such a break from the norm! :D

The A.I ain't half bad either. I'm playing through normal and have been killed rather a lot and i consider myself pretty good at shooters. :p

I'll probably push on tomorrow and finish it. I haven't read this thread, so no spoilers folks. Best i avoid the thread till i do it probably! :D

Nothing really I'm just guessing people are just getting bored of CoD4 now they've done all the prestige modes. I think Halo 3's numbers have remained more or less the same and CoD4's is the one that has been losing players.

There was a free map released on the 7th of July for Halo, but it was really crap and played terrible so I doubt that was the reason for the spike in numbers (but it could be). Also there has only been around 1.1 million downloads of the new map and around 800,000-1,000,000 people play the game every 24 hours (depeneding on if its a week day or weekend) so the new map hasnt been that popular by the looks of it.

Yes they changed the ranking system in the last patch. I haven't tried it yet but I think you have an actual rank (captain and the like) for each playlist now as well.

You still have an overall rank I think. This just lets you see if people are actually experienced at the current playlist rather than overall. Of course I could be making this up, there was an article on bungie.net about it.

It's actually better this way now since it's so much easier to determine how much someone has played that specific playlist, resulting in more balanced teams (the system will take a good few weeks more to balance itself out obviously).

I've actually been getting some decent teams lately for once instead of Me and 3 retards against a team of Generals who do nothing but play the game all day.

If you mean big team battle its been moved to the DLC playlists and Ranked Big Team has been replaced with Squad Battle (6 vs 6)

Ah, I see.. in that case it's not that bad. :p
